I'll check it out.
I'm listening to Exmilitary now and it's actually pretty cool.
And I think it's awesome music for working out to.

Exmilitary is my second favourite of theirs behind Government Plates (Powers That B is really climbing up there though). It was one of the records that made me less close-minded about hip hop and it is definitely great to work out to.

Halfway in, still enjoying it.
I think I actually "got" them this time.
Glad I tried again.

Pretty much how everyone gets into DG. You hate them at first, and then fall in love with them later down the line.

Goofle 07-06-2015 01:08 PM

Is it actually a collab with Bjork? I always assumed it was just some samples here and there.

Yep, you're right. I always thought it was a collab, especially since it sounds quite a bit different from the rest of their records (although I do see parallels between that and Gov't Plates).

grindy 07-06-2015 01:50 PM

Seems to be both in a way.

listened to most of exmilitary on youtube... currently on the money store.. i can say i like their energy and ****... it was always the retarded sounding rapper that threw me off.. but now i can see why it's basically necessary for him to sound that way with the kind of production they're using... and i can get why people like this group. it's pretty good music for getting energized.

#jwbreformed

Yeah Death Grips is all about hype for me.

Salamolina 07-08-2015 08:21 PM

Their album "The Money Store" is what I consider to be their best.. I would also recommend checkin out their album "government plates" because it is also pretty awesome

Hey thanks Salamolina

I don't think it's a Captain Beefheart cover.

Honestly I think they keep getting better and better. It almost sounds like Hella mixed with DG into some sort of mutant. I this this is the next logical step from NOTM and JD, like if you heard DG 2.0 then this is what you should have expected.

OccultHawk 02-06-2016 08:31 PM

I've been checking this band out since I started going through Goofle's lists. They sound cool but I'm still not 100% bought in for some reason.

They remind me of an updated version of the Beatnigs. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this already or not.

Best birthday ever.

Actually I'm not aversed to get into his style of rapping bit by bit.
Is there an album where he is at his most flowy and at his least shouty?

Beware from Exmilitary is what got me hooked to them. His rapping flows, the lyrics are amazing, and it contains just enough aggressiveness to prime you for the rest of their work.

Thanks, man, but you're late to the party.;)
I've become a fan by now. Well, not a superfan, but Exmilitary and The Money Store are on pretty heavy rotation.

It's the thought that counts.:yeah:

Electrophonic Tonic 02-09-2016 10:50 PM

For the most part, my interest in DG was as a super noisey, alternative rap group. Hot Head isn't the worst thing I've ever heard, but I'm just not interested if this is DG is going to make music that sounds like Death Grips 2.0 and now this.

That being said, I'm not a fan of Hella (mostly because I've never listened to them and I never really was motivated to) so maybe I'm missing something.

OccultHawk 02-10-2016 03:37 AM

I definitely don't think they're as cool as Atari Teenage Riot.

stop_making_sense 02-21-2016 11:59 PM

Deathtony Griptano

more punk than hip-hop honestly. but they're good

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 03-14-2016 11:18 AM

Interesting.

Goofle 04-29-2016 07:00 PM

New album leaked apparently.

djchameleon 04-29-2016 08:13 PM

I guess I missed the part where they decided to get back together after breaking up/quitting.

Frownland 04-29-2016 08:26 PM

It was always a farce. In fact, Death Grips doesn't even exist.

Electrophonic Tonic 04-29-2016 10:03 PM

The single they released, Hot Head, was maybe the point that Death Grips went a bridge too far for me. I loved Death Grips as a noisy, alternative hip hop act and that single just jumped too far away from that for me.

But, I'll be giving this a listen for sure tonight.

DeadChannel 04-30-2016 11:53 AM

Oh ****, the album leaked? Dank.

If by that you mean a ****tier version of The Money Store, then yeah. It's everything you hoped for and more.

You're entitled to your own opinion but you're wrong.

It's definitely not as good as TMS. Good album though.

I don't think it's as good as TMS either, I just think calling it a "****tier version is dumb because out of all of their projects, I'd say that's the one it shares the least amount of similiarities with.

Lonny Colin 05-03-2016 09:09 AM

Does anyone know why they took Ex Military off spotify, then a few months following they put the album version of Guillotine back up?

If you want a link, all you have to do is ask.
