No the StefanBurnettDG one seems pretty legit that's where all the tour dates came from and where all the new pictures of them practicing and **** came from.

Jenny Death has finally tickled my obsession bone.

Frownland 04-26-2015 06:53 PM

Part One has grown on me quite a bit recently. Still like Jenny Death more, but now I rate NOTM as better then TMS.

Is it weird that I find NOTM to be the catchiest DG album?

Goofle 04-26-2015 07:40 PM

If you mean "catchiest" then yes, it is weird. If you mean what you said.... I dunno bro.

I seemed odd to me that you weren't a fan of NOTM, it being one of the more abstract/experimental DG albums, but better than TMS? Blasphemy.

To be honest I never got the hype over TMS can someone explain it to me. Sone of the tracks just are so skeletal they sound the same (i.e Blackjack, Lost Boys, **** That) I just don't get it there are some great tracks but some really weak ones as well.

Justthefacts 04-26-2015 10:36 PM

TMS>NOTM>ExMilitary>JennyDeath>GovernmentPlates>NL DW

I've reached the point where it's not my favorite, but it's still a brilliant record.
I agree that Lost Boys (which is my least favorite song on TMS) and **** That aren't that great, though, although I love Blackjack.

For me, atm, I'm rating them:

Jenny Death>TMS>NLDW>NOTM>Exmilitary>GP>Fashion Week

Frownland 04-26-2015 10:44 PM

I didn't quite like the production of NOTM at first but after a few listens to it this weekend I enjoyed it a lot more. I remember digging it when it was first released but I didn't go back to it many times.

Government Plates>Exmilitary>Jenny Death>NOTM>TMS>No Love

I think I wouldn't mind it if it weren't for that damn vocal delay on Ride's voice it kills it for me. It's not that I think the album is weak hut I think it is overrated and personally I'll take Ex, NOTM, Jenny, and GP over it any day. Actually GP = TMS.

DeadChannel 04-26-2015 10:49 PM

I actually feel like, looking at my list, GP needs a bump. I dunno, hard to decide.

The first track off Government Plates is the best DG song, IMO.

I'd pretty much have to agree everything about that sing gets me pumped up and kinda freaked out at the same time. Great stuff.

The first three tracks are some of the hardest DG songs they've released yet. Much more of a raw aesthetic that album. Certainly not their best record, but even their worst record isn't half bad.

Exactly I think even the more instrumental cuts on the album are still pretty great. It's amazing how much quality material they have released in such a short time.

Listened to that earlier several times. Actually some great stuff on there.

Sequoioideae 07-05-2015 07:43 PM

Anyone see them on this tour? I'm seeing them Saturday.

John Wilkes Booth 07-06-2015 12:41 AM

so i decided once more to try to be open minded and relisten to death grips, cause they're making noise, people see something i don't, makes me curious.

listened to most of exmilitary on youtube... currently on the money store.. i can say i like their energy and ****... it was always the retarded sounding rapper that threw me off.. but now i can see why it's basically necessary for him to sound that way with the kind of production they're using... and i can get why people like this group. it's pretty good music for getting energized.

Not yet. MC Ride must be the beast you worship first.

Saw them in Vancouver, second day of the tour. It was totally bizarre, absolutely feral energy, I haven't seen an audience rip each other apart like that since Lamb of God killed half of Vancouver in 2006. Excellent performance, every track felt twice as viscous with live production, much more bass, much more bite. Red stage lighting only, breath and smoke blanketing the stage in a dark red haze, Ride's skeletal silhouette pacing back and forth in front of what looked like the gates of Hell.

Totally ****ed.

grindy 07-06-2015 11:13 AM

What's their best album?
I was not really able to get into them because I don't quite like the MC's style of rapping,
there's just not enough flow there for me.
But I'd love to love them, when I heard Zach Hill was in a hip-hop band I **** yeah'd pretty hard.

Government Plates had the least amount of MC Ride and more from Zach Hill and Flatlander. You might end up enjoying that the most.

Thx.
Actually I'm not aversed to get into his style of rapping bit by bit.
Is there an album where he is at his most flowy and at his least shouty?

The most recent one, Powers That B. The first disc, which is a collab with Bjork, is much less shouty than the rest of their stuff. The second disc, which is just DG, has some flowy moments here and there too.
