Take what you will from this.

Death Grips Break Up - Stereogum

It's being reported that they've split up, probably just the latest in a line of publicity stunts.

Ninetales 07-02-2014 04:47 PM

good riddance

Circe 07-02-2014 05:18 PM

I hate them for doing this but I love them for at least giving us one more album.

This so much.

You probably can't tell from my previous posts in this thread but I never really liked Death Grips. Glad it's finally over

Agreed

14232949 07-03-2014 06:50 AM

Strange, I thought this forum by-in-large was pro-Death Grips?

Goofle 07-03-2014 06:53 AM

Nah, the pro-Death Grippers are simply in mourning/shock.

Circe 07-04-2014 01:43 PM

I was under the impression that we were all just too busy furiously pleasuring ourselves listening to NOTM over and over again in an attempt to escape from the harsh reality of it all.

Goofle 07-04-2014 03:31 PM

Rather listen to their first two in all honesty.

14232949 07-04-2014 06:31 PM

^ Aye, nothing came close to the money store.

GuD 07-04-2014 09:37 PM

Death Grips:

90% hype, 10% more hype.

Don't care even a little.

Guess you have to understand Death Grips to enjoy them.

(Pretentiously smoking)

Booooo

Frownland 07-05-2014 03:02 PM

Too bad to see them go, but I'm on the same page as Mankycaant thinking this is a publicity stunt. Hopefully when they release the second part of Powers That B it'll be a stronger note to end on than the first (Government Plates would have been a great stopping off point imo).

On another note, I wish I cared enough about bands I don't like to post about how little I care that they broke up like the lot of you have. Good thing they won't be releasing any more albums that you guys won't be listening to amirite?

Goofle 07-05-2014 03:11 PM

I like them a lot but I don't even care. Lets say this is it, they will continue to make other music and whatever. There's already too much music for me to consume so another band dying out isn't really a bad thing.

Hopefully Zach Hill goes more in the direction of Hella and his solo material, I prefer that sound to that of Death Grips.

James 07-05-2014 04:09 PM

Even if you dislike Death Grips you have to accept they've been one of the most original acts of recent years and then death of originality is always a bad thing even if it isn't aurally pleasing.

Goofle 12-10-2014 07:50 AM

This shit sucks lol

14232949 12-11-2014 03:09 PM

Did they ever release the second part of their Niggas on the Moon project?

P.S. I like the new track.

Goofle 12-11-2014 04:07 PM

This is the first single off that new album. Not sure when it's coming out.

p.s. I am kinda liking it now. Shouldn't have posted my thoughts based on my first listen.

Machine 12-11-2014 07:35 PM

Digging the new DG single sounds a bit more like Exmilitary to me.

Machine 01-04-2015 11:13 PM

Hey did anyone get the new Death Grips album that just came out? I tried downloading it, but their website is down.

EDIT: I just got it and it's awesome.

Blarobbarg 01-11-2015 08:13 PM

Maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for it, but wasn't really crazy about the new instrumentals. However, this Space Jam remix is perfect. Wish it were longer!

And then there's this.

I liked them at first, but after a few more listens they started to show their weaknesses, just the excitement got me I think. Oh and I'm going to have to make sure to listen to those

Goofle 01-12-2015 01:37 AM

Nothing beats The Cure mashup.

Blarobbarg 01-12-2015 01:51 PM

Except the Freddie Gibbs & Madlib mashup.

Goofle 01-16-2015 08:41 PM

Eww. Pïnata is meh.

Mondo Bungle 01-17-2015 11:42 AM

Sign me up for the "Death Grips is awesome" club. I've only heard Exmilitary, The Money Store, and Government Plates as of yet but really like them all.

If that's not a thing then it should be. Also check out Niggas On The Moon it's one of my favorites behind Exmilitary. NO LOVE DEEP WEB is pretty good too.

Justthefacts 01-17-2015 03:47 PM

TheMoneyStore>Niggasonthemoon>Exmilitary>Governmen tPlates>NoLoveDeepWeb

Frownland 01-17-2015 03:49 PM

I'd say my order would be
Exmilitary
Government Plates
The Money Store
No Love Deep Web
Niggas on the Moon

NOTM is great and all but it's kind of a dip in their discography imo.

Machine 01-17-2015 04:00 PM

Gonna have to go with

Exmilitary
Niggas On The Moon
The Money Store
Government Plates
Fashion Week
NO LOVE DEEP WEB

I really did not like NO LOVE at all besides a few tracks.

Justthefacts 01-17-2015 05:17 PM

Inconsistencies!

Goofle 01-17-2015 05:18 PM

It's always gonna be The Money Store.

Ah dammit I ****ing contradicted myself.

Alright let me put it this way NO LOVE is their weakest effort, but it's not a bad album by any means.

It's okay, I believe you. No Love had a long lasting appeal, but it fizzled after Government Plates and NOTM. Definitely has some great songs though.

yungtomselleck 01-22-2015 11:32 PM

I love Fashion week but im sad MC Ride hasnt spit on any of the beats. So good..

Mondo Bungle 02-07-2015 12:02 AM

Government Plates and NOTM are ace, the former being my favorite from them. I love that sound.

Justthefacts 02-11-2015 01:14 PM

Well, fashion Week is taking place and still no Jenny Death. I hate Death Grips for being so trolly.
