It's okay, but throw away.

If this is a Money Store track that didn't make the cut, that's fine by be. It's cool and unique by mainstream hip-hop standards, but it's not up to my standard for Death Grips and they obviously didn't think it was either. Here's a statement from the band about No Love Deep Web...

This is apparently a track hidden on the Death Grips website that was found not even a few hours ago. Considering they have been promoting the album with an 'Alternative Reality Game', this doesn't surprise me. There is nothing proving it's from The Money Store or No Love/Deep Web.
The production is kinda meh on this one, the production should be loud as **** like on TMS or Exmilitary. Ride is going pretty nice on this one but still, it's a little meh.
0/2 so far on these new tracks (or whatever they are).
Ja the production's pretty weak on this one. I wish they would use more harsh noise like on System Blower, I really dug those breakdowns.
Also, they posted this on Twatter:
"1.come up and get me 2.lil boy 3.no love 4.black dice 5.world of dogs 6.lock your doors" "7.whammy 8.hunger games 9.deep web 10.stockton 11.pop 12.base rattle stars out the sky 13. artificial death in the west" So apparently there's a tracklist now. The song titles sound good enough, and thank Yorke that they didn't put True Vulture Bare on it. There's hope. |
I am so going to listen to this right now.
Also, the cover art is dada as fuck. I like Dadaism. |
Hahahahahahahahaha! Their album art is a cock. That's epic.
Decided not to stay up last night to get this, but it doesn't seem to matter because their personal site is slow as fuck right now. At least they included a link in that Pitchfork article.
I hope this album destroys those two lame tracks found in their website.

I have to agree, I think "Artificial Death in the West" is the best song off the album and the one that really stands out by being so different.
About to give this a listen. LOL at the album cover.
I'm on my 3rd listen...
Easily, I think the best track is semi-eponymous No Love. The drums and loop are as evil sounding as anything they've ever done. Other highlights for me include Deep Web, Come Up and Get Me and Bass Rattles Stars Out of the Sky. Lowlights would be Black Dice, Pop and Whammy. I don't really like Lil' Boy, but I think it's a parody more than anything else. But Gucci is right. This one is gonna be a grower. ------------- Oh, I don't know if anyone has seen it, but their website has been shutdown. Epic says they have nothing to do with it, allegedly... And one last edit... If you want an alternate album cover (But why would you?!) Here are some options and I recommend the last one. |

It's also hilarious how the ones of the guy in the hoody look like he's holding his junk. |
The last one of those alternatives is awesome. For whatever reason iTunes put Peeping Tom's album cover for both No Love Deep Web and Enslaved's new album RIITTIIR.
I have listened to it about four times, and I'll agree with Electrophonic Tonic: "No Love" is the best track, and the one that, as well as "Artificial death in the west" (which also is one of the tracks that stands out).
I also like the vocals on "World of dogs". He sounds a little sad, which I didn't really expect. I don't think this album is as good at The Money Store, but that may change. As many people have said already: it is a grower, as all their other work. I wish they would use a little more rock and punk-sounds in their songs, for example the guitar on "I want it I need it" and "Spread Eagle Across the Block", but I like the direction they're going now as well. Oh, is it just me, or does MC Ride remind any of you of Kanye West when he says: "Too many hoes in my mutha****in meal/Asking if I know how a mutha****a feels" It's weird, but I can't stop thinking of it. Reminds me of someone commenting on Death Grips' facebook: "Great artwork, Death Grips, but Kanye West is still the biggest dick in my iTunes library." Anyways, I'm looking forward to listening more to this dark, chaotic, paranoia-filled album! |
It's getting better. I don't know if the hype is changing my opinion or if it's really growing so fast on me. Either way, it's beginning to sound amazing.
Also, I'm loving this minimalist bass-heavy production. It's like an album full of "Guillotine" or "Takyon." Which is awesome. |
There's definitely a different feeling to this album than on TMS.
It's almost as if they're trying to channel the raw energy of the former release and not quite capturing it, coming across as a little try-hard and over-zealous at times, which could explain the album cover. In some ways I think the album cover perfectly sums up this record in that it tries a little too hard to be provocative and shocking, whilst ultimately sounding rushed. It is good, no doubt. There's still catchy hooks, seen in Whammy and No Love and some mind-blowing noisy bass effects that take your mind on a whirling rollercoaster ride when listening through headphones. Seriously, the distortion of the balance had me feeling like my mind was floating, which was a cool effect as MC Ryde's voice bellowed from side to side, especially on the first few tracks. There's also a deeper emphasis on MC Ryde's vocals this time around. On TMS, he was used primarily to shout out the hooks, but there's definitely more of an attempt to include him more predominantly this time around, and he has some nice bars, but lyrics and MCing prowess were never this groups strong point. I remember one of the tracks repeating the sentiment of 'I got some s hit to say just for the f uck of it' which probably describes this record well. It is good, no doubt but it just felt as if it was thrown together because Death Grips could. |
My feelings exactly.
On first listen, I like it it, doesn't sound like much of a departure from the Money Store though.
I liked it more the more I listened to it; I was a bit underwhelmed on first listen. Much more aggressive than The Money Store (I was wondering which direction they'd go), but that's not necessarily a good thing. TMS is still definitely my favourite album they've done, but I still thought this was solid, which was a relief after hearing the tracks they released in between. Another consistent effort, with no real weak links yet again.
sounds dope 2 me i like
MC Ride is actually Rick Ross' younger brother. The beard is in the family.
Oh, and I'm also liking the new album more and more. Listening to "Artificial Death in the West" at the end of the album is like escaping a maze full of deadly traps and traumatic experiences where you fight to survive/kill yourself, only to find yourself lost in an endless, cold desert, realizing nothing was really worth it. In a positive way. |
Deep Web is where it's at. Stands toe to toe with the best of The Money Store.
Yeas I too have downloaded the album and listen the tracks, just awesome and going to be a big bang. I really love all collections of the album.
Know how some hacker found a NLDW b-side on the Death Grips site? Well...
They got it accompanied by a trippy video. I have no idea what's going on but I like it. |
Is the song supposed to sound exactly like this, or has the video itself added in extra audio. Pretty cool track either way.

(NLDW is great, though) The video was... surprising. Can't say anymore right now, as I'm tired and afraid that watching it again while in this state of asleep/awakeness will give me some seriously weird dreams. Hmm... with that in mind, maybe I SHOULD watch it again before going to bed :) |
I have to say, I thought that song sucked before I watched that video. Now it just makes more sense. It goes great with that insane video. Guess that's why it wasn't officially released until the video was finished.
Look! MC Ride actually DOES talk!
i love this band deff one of my all time favs already in there short career

I am very confused at the lack of Flatlander, their keys player/producer... I'm really hoping he didn't quit or get kicked out, since his playing and samples really helped drive the band in almost every way. Did anyone see their live Pitchfork performance? Completely atrocious. For those who didn't see, Flatlander wasn't there and MC Ride and Zach Hill were just playing over the actual recorded songs... it sounded horrible. And on another note, did any other Breaking Bad fans notice that MC Ride sounds exactly like Jesse Pinkman? |
