kreayshawn

More bay area weirdness. Maybe it's just a guilty pleasure of mine, but I dig this gal a lot.

Phantom Limb 05-20-2011 03:12 PM

I think you like any attractive female that has average rapping skills.

Sparky 05-20-2011 10:08 PM

Oh for sure

She has some cute punchlines though

"see me at your college campus baggy full of adderolls"

I like that she's feminine without doing some lame singing chorus or any tacky ****

djchameleon 05-21-2011 04:49 AM

I like the beat but her lyrics are definitely average.

I think her blond friend is a bit more attractive than she is.

I personally like K. Flay a bit more

Sparky 05-21-2011 12:24 PM

They're both pretty generic hipster girl rappers

I just dig Kreayshawns 'tood more

Phantom Limb 05-21-2011 12:51 PM

She's got decent flow too. i think i'd take Kreayshawn over K.Flay too.

Kirby 05-22-2011 05:04 AM

K. Flay > Kreayshawn

That was catchy but didn't seem particularly weird. Are her other songs stranger or something?

From the first comment on the video:

Man im goin Kreayshawn. Cuz im ****in Kreayshawn. I run up in ya house and kill ya mom. And ill kill ya dog, and kill ya little brother too. Man, but i wont kill ya cat. Ill put her in a bag and take her to my house, put her on my couch, and let my cat go at her. Cuz my cat is a goon. Yeah shes a goon comin to ya real soon. Kitty got the chopper and she dont **** wit chu.

I don't know if that's weird enough for you but she does say it midway in the song.

K flay plays it so safe and well behaved. It's more lyrical content in the song for sure, but it's also way less captivating and far more boring.

Antonio 05-22-2011 09:56 PM

listened to her Kitty X Choppas mixtape earlier today, not great but i dig it.

I just listened to it, and while I liked Gucci Gucci, I could not really get into the Kitty X Choppas tape.

djchameleon 06-07-2011 04:57 PM

Kreayshawn got signed so I guess I'll be looking forward to what she has to offer.

Matious! REALLY!?

oh god

V-nasty from her crew geez

Sparky 06-12-2011 09:29 PM

Yeah kreayshawns music career is pretty non-existant, but she has a great look and personality. I think with the support the studio will give her she'll become a pretty fun artist.

I think gucci gucci is obnoxiously catchy

Also don't dismiss v-nasty. She seems lackluster, because she is only going "in" half the time, like lil b, but give her mixtape a shot, its way stronger then kreayshawns.

Queen Boo 06-15-2011 06:03 PM

I dig her singles but is any of her shit solid enough to be worth a download?

simplephysics 06-15-2011 06:11 PM

She's like Lady Gaga's annoying little sister. Some of these songs are okay for what they're worth, but that being said I won't be listening to them again, haha.

Really liked that K. Flay track DJ posted though.

Phantom Limb 06-16-2011 10:24 AM

Just listened to Kreayshawn X The Bay (it's pretty ****ty) and i heard some N bombs being dropped. I thought that was pretty ridiculous. Whats everybodies view on white girl rappers saying that shyt?

Sparky 06-16-2011 04:04 PM

It's chill, like do you personally care?

I don't get why all these white people are protesting stuff nobody in the black community seems to give a **** about

lol idk why either.

I don't really care about it but there was a huge article that I read recently where they were bitching and moaning about her use of the n-word

Antonio 06-17-2011 06:28 AM

in the context of her fanbase i don't really see a problem with it.

djchameleon 06-24-2011 03:19 PM

Mistah F.A.B. speaks out in White Girl Mob's defense.

I really like this quote from the article

Quote:

"You mother fuckers need to wake up. It's 2011," F.A.B. told WeTheWest.com. "Nobody gives a fuck about that shit no more. We grew up in the same communities, same neighborhoods. It's not the same as how people once looked at it. You want to stand up for a cause like that? You'll let somebody from your own race disrespect you all day, then soon as someone from outside your race...you want to turn into Malcolm X or Martin Luther King."

Some of the stuff on Kittys & Choppers is really, really, good. Some of the stuff on Kittys & Choppers is really, really, bad.

yeah hopefully she'll be able to wrinkle out the rough spots production-wise now that she got signed.

What did you find good?

I found some stuff that was tolerable, but i hate how underproduced her voice is, or it has some cheap effect on it throughout the whole tape.

Sparky 06-26-2011 12:24 AM

her songs on pitchfork are dope, Has some trippy mid 90's flavor
Pitchfork: Forkcast: Kreayshawn: "Breathtaking Freestyle" [ft. Alexander Spit] / "Buster" [ft. Gata]

Makes her 2nd mixtape a lot more promising

djchameleon 07-02-2011 06:43 AM

I fell out of my chair laughing when she said Shakespeare had swag:rofl:

Engine 07-08-2011 01:28 AM

How many cred points do I lose for liking Kreayshawn far more than I like this?

I'm going to use this opportunity to complain about the misuse of the word swag. That sentence above to me that Shakespeare was sitting on some treasure; swag is a pirate term, damn it!

Swag-ger you lazy bastards (and by you I mean modern day society)

Swagger just lost the -ger in the last year or two. I ignored it at first, because its wrong. But its only growing in use.

Swag = Treasure

Back me up.

Kreayshawn is getting hyped far above her abilities... I read about her in the newspaper already ffs... but she's okay.

Swag didn't just recently lose the -ger. Maybe in terms of hip hop and considering it style but swag = treasure/free stuff is still used that way.

When celebs go to award shows they get swag bags which is filled with a whole bunch of free crap that companies want them to use so it gets more promotion/recognition.

Mrd00d 07-08-2011 05:12 AM

I love hip-hop but them and awards shows need to get their paws off of the term.

Yahhrrr, pillaging and plundering the term swag is what they be doin...

scoundrel land lubbers...

GuitarBizarre 07-08-2011 05:39 AM

From my own facebook status:

Dear rap/hip-hop - You have successfully proven that you can abuse a word until it means nothing, well done, now please stop saying "swag" every two ****ing seconds.

It's interesting that MB members have chosen to pounce on a thread about a white female rapper to criticize "regular" words that have been altered and turned into jargon by the general hip-hop community.

Have you noticed that many common English words have been appropriated and used "wrongly" by rappers for about four decades?

I'm sure Your facebook page is full of rap fans who agree with you. (Ha!)

This gives me even more reason to track down Kreashawn when she comes to my town for SXSW 2012. Among other things, I want to know what she thinks of you guys' racially and sexually motivated criticism of her word choice.
:)

Mrd00d 07-08-2011 08:03 PM

Sorry, should have done it on Lil B's page?

I don't care what color she is or what's in between her legs, she's perpetuating the bastardization of a word with a meaning, when three letters more actually gets the desired definition...

Yes.
Otherwise I have no reason to believe that you didn't target Kreashawn's sex and race.

Also, have you considered that you may be incorrect about rappers' definition and usage of the word 'swag' in general? I have. Even if you're right, who gives a shit about 3 letters (besides you) and why should they?

Mrd00d 07-08-2011 08:28 PM

I still haven't even heard her. I was going off DJ's post

Shakespeare had swagger, certainly.

No I haven't. But I may be. But if I do get the gist of this, it just seems lazy and incorrect.

I kind of feel nobody wants to say swagger anymore, like M.I.A. killed it with Paper Planes or something.
