I Am A God and I'm In It get the thumbs down as well for just being too ridiculous.

How do you hate Bound 2 but want old Kanye West and not another Yeezus?

Bound 2 was a throwback to some of his earlier work and the highlight of the album.

I love the production on I Am a God but yeah some awful lyricism there.

Because it's a hamfisted and frankly awful take on his old material. Bound 2 is enough argument that he's lost everything that used to make him great.

I don't think it was a high point at all. The hook is irritating. The whole I'm not perfect/you're not perfect but that's all right message from the second verse is both sickly and also in contradiction to his earlier self acclaimed God like status. Although I'm pretty sure Kanye was making it sound as if he was in the fields picking cotton during slavery himself, too.

I don't think it sounds anything like anything on MBDTF, to be honest. It's just a pretty lame way of inserting a feel good anthemic song onto a record that had no place for one.

I'm pretty ambivalent about "New Slaves" but I do agree that "Bound 2" is probably the worst song on the album.

"I Am a God" is one of the better tracks though.

The soul sample production is what is indicative of his earlier work. I haven't listened to MBDTF but I don't remember if he used any soul samples on that album.

Completely fine that you view it that way based only on the lyrics but that is such an after thought to me when I'm listening to a Kanye West album. Charlie Wilson and that sample that was used make it perfect imo.

It had a bit of novelty because it was the only uplifting track on the album, but that wore thin, fast.
You must agree it feels horribly out of place on the record, no?

With Jans on this. Bound 2 is fucking shite. It is 2nd rate 'old Kanye'.

No, I feel like it was the perfect ending to all the chaos that was on the rest of the album.

It's fair that you don't remember the samples considering that you haven't listened to the album. You should listen to it, it's good. And I agree Bound 2 is weak in some ways but it's just a short end track, the sample is good.
