Doom should win just for the fact that he is nominated every time in these type of threads
http://www.musicbanter.com/rap-hip-h...know-what.html
http://www.musicbanter.com/rap-hip-h...nal-1-a-3.html
(doom and madvillian were both contestants)

Make more interesting threads.

SATCHMO 03-21-2012 03:22 AM

Yeah, there was a time where ...Vs. threads were outlawed on here. They get old pretty fast.

Goofle 03-21-2012 04:19 AM

They don't get old at all. And this thread has been excellent. I would like many more vs threads please.

Sparky 04-06-2012 01:23 PM

anybody listen to this? I didnt even know about this

http://vinylmeltdown.com/wordpress/w...icron-2008.jpg

Skyfire 04-10-2012 08:25 PM

I liked them both together on that Prefuse73 song "Blacklist".

It'd be pretty ill if they could both come out with a collaboration album prod by either both of themselves (with a cameo from mikah 9) or prefuse73!

Its wishful thinking.

Mrd00d 04-10-2012 09:40 PM

Dude good lookin' out on that Myka 9 feature. I would really like to see that. Prefuse73 is good, man. I don't have enough of that.

Blacklist was a badass track.

Goofle 04-11-2012 05:26 AM

Erm... Erm... Erm...

New Aesop Rock anyone?

Mrd00d 04-11-2012 12:02 PM

Thanks for that!

Sparky 04-11-2012 01:59 PM

Sorry to be that guy, but i thought it was kinda wack

Mrd00d 04-11-2012 02:41 PM

I haven't even finished mentally picking it apart yet, I think you need to listen to it 5 more times and get back to us. But yeah, you can be that guy if you wanna be.

Sparky 04-11-2012 02:57 PM

I've listened to it 3 times, I know thats not the defacto standard for aesop rock songs but still, it's pretty wack.

It's a step backwards from hail mary mallon.

Mrd00d 04-11-2012 03:54 PM

Hail Mary Mallon was a half-step backwards. Rob Sonic held him back on the track. This is back on normal ground with him by himself, in his element. Beats nice, liked the changeups; his delivery is par excellent as usual, and his lyrics are fairly metaphorical and complex as usual, so I'd say "Welcome back, Aesop, I was worried about you, but not anymore"

Goofle 04-11-2012 03:59 PM

^ Tru dat.

Listened to it about 10 times now, really like it.

Thom Yorke 04-11-2012 06:47 PM

The track's pretty sick IMO. I like it more than El-P's. Also, this is hilarious:

See you like it for the exact reason i dislike it. It sounds like quintessential aesop rock to a t. His flow is the same, production the same.

I actually really liked how he slowed his flow down on hail mary, the production on this track is so boring compared to hail mary or felt 3. It lacks punch.

I know im sippin the hatorade right now, but this track is too conservative for me.

Mrd00d 04-11-2012 09:13 PM

Hmm, you know ... "different strokes for different folks". I thought Felt 3 was decent at best, and Hail Mary Mallon was just-for-fun and merely a nice snack so to speak.

My favorite Aesop is Labor Days and Appleseed, and he's changed since then. Lateral change. Not better, not worse, but different. You can throw that track on and then throw on an older Aesop track - even off Bazooka Tooth and it's changed. Hail Mary Mallon has changed him a little. His style is halfway between where he was in 2007 and Hail Mary Mallon. What we need to do is wait and hear the rest of the album before we can really dissect how he's changed.

Mr.Setup 08-26-2012 06:16 PM

It's so hard to compare to the two. I prefer AR though.

Justthefacts 08-26-2012 06:44 PM

MF Doom. Not HANDS DOWN, but I prefer him over Aesop. Hell, I prefer him over any rapper. He's my favorite.

llllllllllllllllllll 09-05-2012 10:30 PM

I might get a new account just to vote for DOOM twice

Mrd00d 09-06-2012 03:00 AM

Asshat move ^

Are you still of this opinion after the release of Skelethon?

Howard the Duck 09-06-2012 07:04 AM

haven't heard either enough to cast a vote

preliminarily, it's MF Doom

Phantom Limb 09-08-2012 10:09 AM

Anyone who votes for aesop in this poll sucks.

Goofle 09-08-2012 10:22 AM

You suck. I love them both, but Aesop is quite obviously a better MC for me.

Mrd00d 09-08-2012 03:33 PM

Ya man, DOOM is a legend, but he's not untouchable. Aesop's becoming a legend in his own right.

Phantom Limb 09-08-2012 03:47 PM

All i have to say is that 3 of your votes came from banned members...

Mrd00d 09-08-2012 03:48 PM

Then that would be 11-10 Aesop. Your move.

I think Aesop is already a Legend.

Mrd00d 09-08-2012 05:01 PM

I think it just officially happened with Skelethon. The culmination of everything, its enough.

Goofle 09-08-2012 05:25 PM

Yeah, his production completed him as an artist for sure.

No. 1 Hip Hop GOAT for me.

I knew Aesop was a great producer (I even preferred his earlier stuff to Blockhead's), and I was still impressed at the production on Skelethon. That being said, it still doesn't tip the scale into his favour over DOOM. It's still going to take a lot more for me to give Aesop the edge in that category.

Goofle 09-09-2012 07:52 PM

Fair play. Didn't expect you to change, knew DOOM was your No. 1. But for me, in terms of lyrical skill, there isn't a comparison.

Mrd00d 09-10-2012 02:05 AM

It's different styles, really. Lots of comparisons between the two, sure, but different methods of delivery, different types of songs more or less.

Howard the Duck 09-10-2012 03:03 AM

I agree with lyricism (DOOM is great but Aesop is definitely better in that category), but the main kicker for me is style. DOOM's just a lot cooler and more fun to listen to than Aesop.

Goofle 09-11-2012 09:19 AM

Yeah, and I would certainly take DOOM's discography over Aesop's.

Jester 09-11-2012 11:50 AM

weak ass threads over at musicbanter, i must say
