I didn't know he was involved in country. I was just aware of his juggalo affiliation through my old juggalo contacts.

Apparently they've latched onto a lot of washed up acts from back in the day (I think Vanilla Ice might actually be signed to Psychopathic these days, and I know that a few 90s anachronisms like 2 Live Crew end up playing the Gathering, which is like a yearly juggalo Woodstock), artists that serious hip hop fans scoff at (Tech N9ne would probably be signed to Psychopathic if he didn't have Strange Music), and even some talented/quasi-talented groups that probably just play the Gathering for the money (Geto Boys, I'm pretty sure Bone Thugs, I know Gwar has, Cannibal Corpse too, and Ice Cube).

Just looking at the lineup from 2012, and they actually managed to get quite a few artists who would probably never want to associate themselves with juggalos if they didn't need the money: George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, Soulfly, Fear Factory, Kool Keith, Master P, The Pharcyde. That's gotta be a shot to the ol' ego to have to slum it with those white trash mother****ers.

Oh trust me if I was close enough I would go to the gathering every year Juggalo or not, the lineups are legendary. In terms of 2 Live Crew no real Hip-Hop head would scoff at them. Their influence in Hip-Hop is endless. I always wish I didn't hate Juggalo culture when they bring out their lineups.

Me too. I'd hate the company, but there's more than enough good acts to make up for it. And say what you want about ICP, but they put on one hell of a live show.

Really? I always figured them for a two-dimensional one-hit wonder whose only value was in their over-the-top sexual lyrics.

yea to me public enemy is more of an 80's group

technically you can put them in the early 90's as well but in terms of sound and everything else they are really more akin to 80's hip hop

and they're certainly not apart of the same 'wave' of hip hop that wu tang is part of... they sort of resented the whole drift towards gangster rap which wu tang on the other hand whole-heartedly embraced.

Nice write up.
that's a great verse but its not even the best on illmatic imo

that would go to the last verse on one love

honestly to me nas's most iconic stand out verses usually tend to pop up in guest appearances

another example is his guest verse on eye for an eye

Nah, they basically started and pioneered an entire subgenre with Miami Bass, they were the first to ever use lyrics like they did, first to get a parental advisory ticket, first to come out of florida, and they had more than one hit, they actually had quite a few, to top it off they were doin' it in 85' so they were helping pioneer the genre as a whole. In terms of a party emcee I'd say the guys in 2 live crew are defintely contenders for the best.

Edit: Plus they got all their hits and did all this on their leader Luke Campbell's own independent label which was also pretty amazing for the time.

Vanilla Ice doing country is extremely enticing to me.

part of the prblem and one of the reasons i started this thread is i also see a controlling element going on jay z and kayne seem to think they run awards shows.

to the element of the kardashian sisters interviewing artists.

I will or wouldn nt ever attend an award show were as a kardasian sister is interviewing me.

hence another reason start of the thread

I doubt you'd make it to the award shows to begin with, so cool down mate.

Would most likely be better than this.
