A lot of popular rap music has the same themes, guns, drugs, violence, girls(bitches). Political or conscious rap has never been popular with the masses. Does that make it the most ignorant genre in terms of popularity?

Just like anything else, it depends on who you're talking about. Some of today's hip hop is definitely ignorant as hell, but quite a bit of it has some fairly deep messages, and tries to put a positive spin on the themes you mentioned. On the whole, I would say no, the genre is far from ignorant.
