311 Rocks!!!!!

Rockafella Skank 12-18-2003 08:51 PM

I agree. I use to listen to their music a lot back in the day. I should throw in some of their CDs and get back into them. What do you like most about them?

Dustin 12-18-2003 08:57 PM

Well, I love the guitar and their lyrics just make so much sense.

MobilizeTerror 12-23-2003 08:38 AM

I'm not a huge fan, some of their stuff is good I guess.

UseleSSDouG 01-03-2004 09:33 PM

311

My favs are also beautiful disaster and i like from chaos and galaxy

Edgil 01-03-2004 09:36 PM

I think for a band to have a unique style and ever changing one as well and to stay around and be successful and popular recording good music as long as 311 has is a great accomplishment ;)

Soundgardener 01-27-2005 02:00 PM

they're ok

hookers with machineguns 01-27-2005 02:09 PM

Speaking of 90s pop bands that no one should care about...

Urban Hat€monger ? 01-27-2005 02:11 PM

I think Flavor Flav (Booooooiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii) said it best when he said 311`s a joke

Or it was something like that.

Hands down, one of the best bands ever. I haven't really listened to anything from From Chaos on -
I have listened to their first 5 albums many times, and have to say they're awesome. Great musicians, and they write about a lot of interesting things. The album Transistor was a concept album devoted to singer S.A. Martinez's fascination w/ outer space, and every song was awesome w/ 20 some odd tracks. I'm sick of critics not giving them their due, let's just judge music by, 'if it feels good, listen to it,' and this is one of the all-time feel good bands. They also put on a great live show.

[MERIT] 02-22-2007 06:27 PM

ZOMG, I saw them in concert with Less Than Jake and Reely Big Fish and it was amazing. My favs are Don't Tread On Me and Love Song.

TheUsedToolguy 02-22-2007 08:04 PM

They've got this song on Grassroots where the drummer launches into this crazy solo & when I saw it live everyone in the band were was playing on their own little drum, like bongos or something for about 10 minutes. It was sick. When they played Hydroponic, so many people lit up that the air was filled w/ smoke

chronoclast 02-23-2007 08:19 AM

I can understand why people would like them while they are high, but as far as listening to them sober, I don't get it. It's very basic chord constructions, vocal patterns, and lyrical content that (for the most part) doesn't make sense unless you're high.

Mediocre band. They are good musicians however, and could be a lot better.

TheUsedToolguy 02-23-2007 06:24 PM

Yeah, I've heard that before they are great to listen to high, and yes I testify to that. However, I hav become sober over about the last 3 years, and can say they're just as good to hear when you're sober. Go get high by meditating and then listen to them, the positivity bleeds into your soul. Meditation is definitely the best high I've ever felt, unfortunately it takes a little bit of work, rather than drinking a 6-pack of Bud, or lighting up. The only caution I would have about meditation is don't expect immediate results, it takes work like anything else. But, like I said I've done almost every thing you can do to get high, and nothing compares to meditation. Anybody who says it's boring or too serious is just not at the point in their life yet when they feel compelled to meditate, but I believe that day will come for all of us.

Any 311 fans here?

Hey, long time 311 fan here, and was just wondering if there are any 311 fans here. They are by far, one of my favorite bands. If you like ska/punk/reggae/alt. rock you will probably find at least one song you like by them, I'm sure of it. :)

With the exception of Amber there are not to many good songs by them. I mean if you want real rock reggae music there plenty better out there. Lately I have been listening to a lot of Rebelution. Check them out.

maggiesmallz 04-06-2009 12:00 PM

I'm not a huge fan, but they sold out a show back home in Knoxville for this month!

I remember kind of liking their first album, Music, when it came out because at the time it reminded me of Rise Robots Rise but I lost interest in them pretty quickly. By the time they released Transistor I was living with a roommate who was an obsessive fan and who played that album and the self-titled one constantly to the point that I lost all interest in the band.

djchameleon 04-06-2009 02:31 PM

Yeah , I used to love 311 but I honestly don't think I have heard any of their albums in full just their hit singles which were pretty damn good. My all time favorite 311 song has to be Empire with black eyed peas.....and Down was pretty awesome too

Freebase Dali 04-06-2009 06:22 PM

I dug a couple of their tunes way back when. I couldn't be bothered now though. Although, with what Rezz said, Amber is probably the only one I'd listen to given the option.

SydMM 04-06-2009 06:40 PM

I love 311. They have a nice mix of everything in their songs.

SATCHMO 04-06-2009 06:54 PM

Music and Grassroots were both really good albums everything after that, uh not so much.

Violent & Funky 04-06-2009 11:39 PM

I like the funky stuff, but ska doesn't really do it for me (I know, ska forum)...

Dieselboy 04-06-2009 11:52 PM

Played the crap outta all their cds until the last 2 that came out, never picked those up...not sure why.

I actually bought their newest disc, "Don't Tread On Me" a couple days ago on ebay cause I saw it for pretty cheap. Haven't heard anything off it, but I'm looking forward to checking it out. From what I read its got alot more reggae moments and less rock type stuff...which is fine with me, cause I always thought they did that really well

pourmeanother 04-08-2009 12:42 AM

I wouldn't consider myself a fan, but I've been known to bump self-titled every now and again. Haven't been too impressed with their stuff since then, but self-titled and prior is good.

Thrice 04-08-2009 12:52 AM

I haveI have 311, music and transistor that I snagged back in college off ourtunes, but I have yet to listen to any of them, ill say amber was alright when I was like 14 but havent heard it recently. I have heard a few songs here and there and its nothing real cool for me.

Violent & Funky 04-28-2009 10:03 PM

I'm digging their new single, 'Hey You.' I'm excited to see what the new album will be like...

wokerybrockery 05-07-2009 10:04 AM

Im a 311 fan, mainly because of Chad Sexton, who blows my mind on the drums. I have always had a little thing for 311 though. Transistor is probably my favorite album.

kayla182 05-14-2009 08:33 AM

I love 311 the first song I ever heard was Down and my favorite song is Come Original

RemorseCode 05-14-2009 11:15 AM

I'm a huge 311 fan and have been looking forward to Uplifter for SO long. Hexum said the heaviest song they've ever made was on there.

The video for Hey You is pretty cool and funny

Son of JayJamJah 05-14-2009 01:44 PM

Fantastic band whose shows are out of this world, especially at an outdoor venue.

Favorite Albums

Grassroots
Evolver
Transistor
Music

Roemilca 05-14-2009 03:53 PM

The song I ever heard was Transistor, at least I think that's what it was called, but I had forgotten about them until I heard All Mixed Up on the radio almost two years ago.

RemorseCode 05-14-2009 10:25 PM

It blows my mind when they Applied Science live

What the hell could be better than that

S. Flavious Mercurius 05-15-2009 08:52 AM

I still love 311 though the last few albums have not been up to par.
