Today I heard talk of a Kyuss Reunion. I doubt it will ever come to be true but even the slight chance has me on my toes. It was Brant Bjork on some German radio station saying how all the guys have been talking about joining in a massive tour.

^^^ If that ever did happen, I would definitely be chomping at the bit to get tickets and flights to the nearest shows.
Kyuss are amazing, more specifically their 'Sons of Kyuss' demo is amazing, can't get my head around the albums yet. |

I love Kyuss. I'm actually listening to Blues for the Red Sun right now.
My favorite songs would have to be Gardenia, Demon Cleaner, Supa Scoopa and Mighty Scoop and Apothecarie's Weight. |

^ oh yeah, especially that first disc. i've only seen the Queens twice but anytime they played really old material they would ALWAYS stretch it out and jam it out a little. so a full set of 'oldies' should have some seriously groovy jams happening throughout the evening. it might not be the most appealing situation for a contemporary fan who's used to their more recent and polished material, but for the rest who just want to space out on some great live music.... awesome

the whole idea of 'Kyuss Lives' just doesn't seem right to me.
it's like going to see Led Zeppelin with someone filling in for Jimmy Page. besides Scott Reeder was a more substantial bassist than Oliveri, though, the association to QOTSA likely gets them more press. i think Homme said it best in a quote close to that same wiki blurb from earlier. i'm paraphrasing here but basically his view boils down to - Kyuss was a very special band, it had a very special run, and now it's over. if you were there when it happened you were one of the lucky ones that shared in the magic with the band. if you weren't, then you weren't, that's luck of the draw. not gonna piss on the memory of something great for a buck. i think that really sums it up. Kyuss has the reputation it does because so few people actually went out to see them when they had the chance. it's not like it's hard to find their material or live clips of what it was when it happened. but to try re-doing it 15 years later with a random guy trying to fill an iconic role and a bass player who's got a proven track record for getting way too messed up, way too often instead of the guy who stuck with them for their 2 biggest albums kind of makes you wonder just what's up. |
While thats true, I for one would rather see a Homme-less Kyuss than no Kyuss at all. As I never got to see them when they were together in full.
