So we've never heard of the Arctic Monkeys over here. And we won't, unless we come online to hear whats happening in the rest of the world. Or they become superduper cool and make it global.

Who do they sound like, if anyone, and are they really as classy as hobojesus makes them sound?

Take every new wave sounding indie band you`ve ever heard over the past 5 years , get a singer with a Sheffield accent who can`t sing a note , and there you go ...The Arctic Monkeys

Haha yeah the General Music Forum is a wash. So maybe not worth my broadband space by downloading their album then.

The album isn`t that bad , just don`t go expecting it to be life changing

I can't do polls! this thread was originally supposed to be a poll, but it hasn't worked out. Anyway I think the album IS a classic. And Sab, you say you look for deep emotional lyrics. Well that is why you don't like the Arctic's lyrics. It's not a case of them being bad, in my opinion they are fantastic. It's just a case of you not liking them. I would never buy a Beatles album, but I stand up for them in other threads because they are a talented and extremely influential band, and some of my favourite bands would not be here today if it were not for them.

It isn't life changing no, but it is definetly worth getting. You're either going to love it or hate it.
And I'm the one who made all the threads about this band... I was trying to create a poll but seen as I've never done one before they all went wrong, and I was trying to create new ones. The poll still hasn't worked...

Well the album is not important or significant in any way, it's just radio friendly tripe that appeals to the majority of people who do not know anything about music. Also the lead singer can't sing, the lyrics are awful and so is the music. It's just drivel that Indie-fans can fill their Ipods with.
