Initial impression was "quite boring, they have lost it and sound exactly like kasabian now" but I remember hearing Cornerstone from Humbug and not liking it at first. Either way I'll wait till the album comes out but their lyrical content of the first 2 albums with all the social commentary and such - that was young lads, not famous yet writing songs just about their lives, now they are rich and famous living polar opposite lifestyles, so I can't really see this album, or any following albums reaching such lyrical highs as previous efforts.

Yeah, I totally agree. I didn't like Cornerstone either but it sort of grew on me. But the video for it is so corny. I can't even stand to watch it.

Noel Gallagher once said that he just couldn't write lyrics like he used to when Oasis first started because he's not in that place anymore, not living on the dole or whatever. I assume Alex Turner is sort of getting to that point as well. But as far as the music goes, I know they're trying to branch out and try new things which is great but, I'm just not into the direction they're going.

The new single is really bland, but they have announced a release date for their next album and have named it Suck It and See:

Quote:
British indie rock band Arctic Monkeys announced March 10 the release date of its fourth album, Suck It and See. The new LP will release on June 6 in the UK and June 7 in the US.

Produced by Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles, the album features 12 new songs, including the just-released single "Brick by Brick."

idk I don't have high expectations for this new album.

I loved their first but their second one didn't go over very well with me at all.

one of my fave singles but I also liked Fake tales of San Francisco

I just looked up their discography and I guess I missed their third album

I think Favourite Worst Nightmare is an excellent followup and nearly as good as their debut. Humbug is pretty solid too, although it's not my thing so much. I imagine there will be a few things I enjoy off this new album but yeah, I don't expect another Whatever People Say...
