Am I one of the only few that actually likes their nu-metal phase (Diabolus in Musica, God Hates Us All, and Christ Illusion to a lesser extent)? It was the perfect sound for them at the time, with digital recordings becoming the new norm and that heavier hard rock sound being the dominant sound. At the very least, it was the right move for them financially.

Even if you don't like anything to do with nu-metal, you can't deny that those albums kick ass and were far heavier than most other Metal/Hard Rock releases during the late 90's/early 00's.

It's passable. I would much rather listen to those albums than most other nu-metal though.

Nope.

To anyone who doesn't want to waste money or drive space on the new Slayer album, here's a version that comes with an extra CD with a live show from Wacken. I don't know if posting links to illegal downloads is frowned upon on this site, but I'll let the mods sort it out. Not like they're good for anything else.

Removed link because this is all I'm good for, you twit.

I've been a big Slayer fan since I was a kid, the first time I saw them live was on the South Of Heaven tour and I hope to catch them on their next tour. The latest issue of Guitar World has an interesting interview with Kerry and Tom - I've known for a while that post-Seasons it has been Kerry recording all but Jeff's lead tracks in the studio, but I had no idea Kerry has been doing nearly everything but Tom's vocals and the drum tracks...he has been laying down the bass on their albums and even states in the interview he'll record vocals how he wants or thinks they should be sung and then give them to Tom who remarked in the interview this was the first album where he was given the freedom to just do the vocals as he saw fit.

Thanks to the internet we have this - in my opinion the be-all, end-all of metal shows - Slayer's 1986 show at The Ritz on the Reign in Blood tour:

Rest in Peace, Jeff

So, with that^ and the thing with firing Dave Lombardo, Kerry King is now a confirmed egomaniac dick. I'm cool with that, since he's also a homophobe. Hard to be disillusioned about somebody you're already disillusioned by.

Slayer still ****ing rules though.

Slayer is one of the best bands in the style of Thrash metal. Musicians are worthy of respect. The best in their music, it seems to me, is fast guitar solos and sometimes inimitable drum techniques. Especially popular albums: God Hates Us All, Reign In Blood, World Painted Blood, South Of Heaven.
