I'm not yet good enough to be in a band. I've only been playing guitar for about a month, but I'd love to be in a metal band! It would be so great! So I'm just going to keep practicing and maybe someday...lol.
Are you in a band?

Two and a half months is really not long at all, especially if you're teaching yourself, which I assume you are. Like Misfits said, just practise, and start listening to some new bands. You'll pick up influences from your listening, whether you notice it or not. And of course, keep yer eyes and ears open for a drummer, you'll have plenty of time to find one if you wanna be good before you start playing. No offence meant .

Yeah, i guess i dont practice enough, because i have been playing guitar for 4 years, and i still suck.

Might be because i am incapable of reading music, so despite all my practice, i just dont have enough knowledge in theory.

Ah, I wouldnt worry.. Youll get there in the end. Some people just naturally get it from the second they start, its annoying. Ive only been playing six string for just over 2 years, but I started with bass about half a year ago now, and yeah, Ive just gotten on with it all so much quicker. Its just different things for different people, its not that you're muscially challenged or some **** like that..

its probably not all bad that you cant read music... like sheet music because then your not always relying on music to play. like you might say " alright im gonna go learn a song" and instead of going straight to the internet and getting some tab or whatever you'd like make up your own music n stuff, you know!
did that make sense? your probably thinking " what is this chic on!?" but meh... i tried

Wow what a useful thread.

Practice its not brain science and definitely not something that you need to ask around on a forum about.
