Cheese 11-23-2005 12:04 AM

I've only ever heard 45 myself!

sleepy jack 11-23-2005 05:44 PM

Err...they suck..really generic..

Merkaba 11-23-2005 06:27 PM

Yeah I absolutely love this band!

*..Looks at title*

Ohh...errr....I thought it was something good. My mistake.
Yeah I have 3 of their songs on my pc, I don't find anything too flash about them at all.

demon hunter 11-27-2005 12:20 AM

i heard them in concert recently and they were pretty good.

Avenged Bullet 07-28-2008 01:22 PM

Shinedown

I love Shinedown....they're probably my favorite band. Anyone else here love them?

WWWP 07-28-2008 01:33 PM

Yeah, I like them alright.

mamanuthead 07-28-2008 01:38 PM

I think their cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's Simple Man is better than the original.

WWWP 07-28-2008 02:08 PM

Nah, I don't think it's better, but it is damn good.
The Skynyrd version was played at a good friends funeral though, so maybe it's a sentimental thing.

JMO anyway, I know alot of people would not agree with me. I just think that Shinedown put more energy into the song. I find the original slow and somewhat boring but that's just me. Sorry about your friend, I can see why the original version has meaning for you.

The Unfan 07-28-2008 04:57 PM

Outside of their horrendous rendition of Simple Man they're not too bad.

Avenged Bullet 07-28-2008 08:52 PM

I thought their cover of Simple Man was good.....but I like all their stuff

WWWP 07-29-2008 02:31 AM

I love Burning Bright. One of my favorite songs ever.

Burning Bright it good. Though I think that their newest album The Sound of Madness is their best

jackhammer 07-29-2008 03:03 PM

Never heard of them before. What is their sound?

WWWP 07-29-2008 03:10 PM

Burning Bright

.45

Two of my favorites. I think it's a good representation of their sound...

Thanks for the links. They are crap and totally unoriginal.

NSW 07-29-2008 07:04 PM

I love "45". I think Sound of Madness sucked though. The first album was definitely their best.

ashtray 07-29-2008 07:24 PM

My uncle wanted these guys so I burnt there new disc for him. Checked it out real quick wasn't huge into it. It almost sounded like christian pop rock (to me).

EDIT : Just skimmed through first and latest album. I would have to stay with my opinion. I could see how some people would like it though.

mamanuthead 07-30-2008 07:59 AM

Well the world would be a pretty boring place if we all agreed on everything now wouldn't it? :)

Well I'm from Saskatchewan Canada and my uncle wanted them so they must be known a little bit.

lucifer_sam 07-30-2008 11:27 AM

Wasn't this band played like continuously on the radio for a year or so? Kinda hard not to hear of them.

I liked them for a little while, then grew out of them. Never listened to a full album or anything though. I guess they're okay. I certainly don't hate them like most of the alternative crap on the radio nowadays.

They probably got played on the radio because of Simple Man and 45

The first album was good but I think Sound of Madness was a little better.

daymare 08-03-2008 09:14 PM

i like them. has anyone got their new cd? i haven't yet. and i'm scared that its not as good as their other stuff...

mamanuthead 08-04-2008 07:39 AM

I don't have the new cd. I've only heard the song Devour and played it on Rock Band but it's just so-so IMO.

I have it, and no, it's not as good as the other two. I got bored listening to it. There are a couple catchy songs, but over all it's just...meh.

I got it and I really like it. Its a bit harder than the pervious albums but it works for them.

It does have some harder songs, but the softer ones are just awful.

I don't have any good reason, except that I just wasn't feeling this one. With the first one I felt like they actually put some feeling and emotion behind it. But now it just seems like they're churning out whatever they think will make them some bucks.

eh fair enough but still id have to disagree, ah well

Hinesmdc 08-19-2008 01:51 AM

I'm a big Shinedown fan. Their first two albums are fantastic. Wasn't too fond of the new one, though.

Darkest Hour 03-16-2009 09:49 PM

this thread hasn't been replied to in 7 months. Wow, i love this band. Burning bright and in memory are some great songs.

dudewtf512 03-16-2009 09:56 PM

they sound a lot like hinder IMO.

I was kind of mad when they killed the skynyrd song though :\

Zaraki Kenpachi 03-17-2009 07:54 AM

def cant agree with anyone that says their newest album is the best. They will never have a better album than Leave a Whisper. That album was just perfect. Especially for a debut. They killed it on the first try.

How did they kill Simple Man? You mean by actually having someone that can sing it, do the singing? I give those country boys props for writing a great song, but Shinedown def has the better version.

I imagine you think the Boyz II Men version of the Beatle's Yesterday wasnt better than the Beatle's version as well.

Newsflash original doesnt always mean better. Most cases...but not always.

dark shadow 03-21-2009 12:41 PM

love shinedown, and i will agree that the first album was the best. its what got me into the band in the first place. although the song "what a shame" has a deep meaning for me, as iv lost several people in the past year. sin with a grin is also a fun song, but nothing as intense as on Leave a Whisper. Wouldnt call it a poor album though.

coryallen2 03-23-2009 06:08 AM

they are a great band

Avenged Bullet 03-27-2009 05:09 PM

Glad to this thread is getting posts again. But I do agree that Leave A Whispers was there best I still like Sound of Madness. Saw them live a few months ago and I thought they were pretty good.

Nickvana 03-27-2009 11:37 PM

I love Shinedown. They're probably the best up and coming mainstream band out there. The Sound of Madness was ace.
