Green Day have hardly had time to impact on a mass scale. They weren't exactly glamourised for their earlier better stuff, while their later stuff is getting all the glory but it isn't that flash, it just suits the trends of modern punk pop rock today, a trend which will hopefully mature sometime soon.

I put Slayer because practically every fast metal band out there I have seen them state the Slayer has influenced them. Green Day has influnced basically every pop rock/punk band of today though whether that is good or not, I am not sure and I dont think that needs to be debated in this thread.

Stevie Ray Vaughan had a huge impact on blues. He brought it closer to popular music and still kept it real.

I say it's a tie between The Beatles and Led Zepplin. Both have influenced the music market, and both are still finding new fans today...

Slint and Neurosis had a big impact on the music i like.. most wouldnt exist if it wasnt for them, pioneering post-rock and atmospheric metal respectively.

obviously there were bigger influences further back but i dont know them.

I'd say Black Sabbath, this is probably the top influence in metal.

I'd say a toss up between Sabbath and Zeppelin. Pantera are in there too for keeping metal alive and popular in a time when it might have died out.
