I agree, but I do give him some credit considering how young he was when they started (I think he was like 20 when they released Ascendancy).

Now it seems they're trying to copy their own imitators! They just make clean, over-processed, radio-friendly songs. 5FDP is probably the most generic and popular band out right now, and I'd say new KSE is right there with it.
I don't like it for the same reasons I don't like All That remains or As I Lay dying's first albums. I just kind it all to be really ****ty sounding

I'm not a real huge fan of metalcore but Axewound is pretty talented.

Most of the metalcore bands that I listen to happen to be...i guess what some would call non-generic bands haha. My favorite metalcore band is Threat Signal.

Others that I like are:
Mnemic
Miss May I
Converge
Eyes set to Kill
Atreyu
God Forbid
August Burns Red
Killswitch Engage
Structures
and others that I listen to on occasion.

Metalcore seems to be one of those genres where there aren't any just good bands or just bad bands...there's either the REALLY ****ING KILLER bands, the mediocre bands, and the bands that belong in the sewer.

Never heard of them. If I were to get one of their albums, which one would you recommend to me?

The first two All That Remains albums are actually not that bad haha, too bad they went downhill. And what is it about the newer As I Lay Dying stuff that you like as opposed to their first albums?

Default post hardcore vs progressive ph/mathrock...

I think bands like Fall of troy are progressives as well, We're actually not playing in the same category with post hardcore bands even if I like a lot fall of troy
At the drive-in was really melodic and could be hardcore. I'm not going to listen to "at the drive-in" like I'm listening to "fall of troy" or bands like "the dilinger escape plan" which I like a lot as well.
Music has progressed and it's all good for our ears.

Everyone is very well up on their 'cores here, I never really bothered trying to understand the finer points between them myself.

If I wanted to start a sub-discussion I'd see where you 'core-nisseurs would put Every Time I Die?

he was 19 when Ascendancy was released and he was 17 when Embers to Inferno was released.

also, he doesn't seem to do screaming vocals anymore.

that seems to be Corey's job now.
