As I live in a country where the mentioned scene isn't really a problem, I listen to it solely for the music.

You say I need to branch out? Might be, but saying half of my fav bands are metalcore bands does not mean I don't listen to other types of music. My playlists on spotify include the following artists;

- In Flames
- Soilwork
- Meshuggah
- System of a Down
- Chimaira
- Chain Collector
- Avenged Sevenfold
- Atreyu
- Parkway Drive
- A Day to Remember
- Slipknot
- Pantera
- Lamb of God
- A Life once Lost
- Maylene and the Sons of Disaster
- Disturbed
- Killswitch Engage
- All that Remains
- Dream Theater
- Jack Johnson
- Justin Timberlake
- Guns 'n' Roses
- Foo Fighters
- Volbeat
- Bring me the Horizon
- Stonegard
- Kite
- Paramore
- The Agonist
- Every Time I Die

And lots of different artists.

My last.fm profile shows that the last year I have been listening to approx. four and a half hour of music every day. I play the guitar, the piano and sing - most of my life is about, with or includes music. I love music for what it is, not for what kind of people it includes.

Redundant troll is redundant. This, I even said myself. But I don't give a damn. Technical provess is not a requisition for me to like music. I don't give a rats ass if a riff is technically difficult, advanced or anything - as long as it rings nicely in my ears.

EDIT;

- Nickelback
- Bullet for My Valentine
- Apocalyptica
- Aerosmith
- Kings of Leon
- Stephen Lynch
- Queen
- Nightwish
- Skillet
- Trivium
- Lenny Kravitz
- Godsmack
- Bobaflex
- Hatebreed
- ZZ Top
- Static X
- Celldweller
- Amy McDonald
- Green Day
- Guano Apes
- Limp Bizkit

Troll?

Sorry that listening to metal & hardcore of all different types for a large portion of of my life counts for nothing.

And nowhere did I mention technicality. I believe I said I disliked it for it's lack of originality.
Why on earth would I expect technicality in something that supposedly has it's roots in hardcore punk?

Correct, but I didn't bother checking your post, therefore assuming he made a correct quote from you again.

My point was still that it isn't really a secret that metalcore is a simple genre, technically.

It may not be a necessity for a metal band to be technically great or even reasonably accomplished, but I do I believe if they`re not, the listening experience isn`t going to be particuarly durable in the long run. The point is, the masses that listen to metalcore in general, wouldn`t have a clue about technical proficiency anyway........so its an easy sell. Most of the people on this forum or avid music listeners in general (into metal) would see straight through the poor technical ability of these bands and the terrible screamo vocals, combined with the clean vocal sections that supposedly make it the thing to listen to. Its actually quite pathetic how they`ve just ripped off the Gothenburg scene and taken accomplished melodic death metal and turned it into metal mediocrity.

From your list of bands, I find it hard how somebody that listens to Lamb of God, Meshuggah, In Flames and Pantera etc can even listen to the majority of the metalcore stuff. In fact, one of the best metalcore albums is actually Avenged Sevenfold`s "City of Evil" and even that is not really metalcore as it has far more metal and rock influences in it.

I see your point, but I am not your general music enthusiast either - prooved by your own statement. I find every single one of the artists/bands interesting in different ways, according to situation and mood.

City of Evil is without a doubt a fantastic album, and me myself struggle to call A7X metalcore - as they haven't been since Sounding the Seventh Trumphet and parts of Waking the Fallen. City of Evil and their selftitled albums are more a mix-up of rock, clean metal, metalcore and trash.

Wow, I'm shocked. I'm gonna go ahead and be as arrogant as you, and conclude with you sighing over that cause they are commersial. OOOOOOO! Scary! They make money, i.e. the music isn't viable any longer. If that's the case; grow up.

Oh, and by the way; has it occured to you that other people might enjoy different usic than you?
