I'm just getting into black metal. From what I've heard of Gorgoroth, Darkthrone, Burzum and Old Man's Child, I'm liking it. But we'll see.

I personally hate Black Metal and Death Metal. Growling and gargling your way through songs is lame. May as well front the band with a waste disposal.

Like some death metal.
Too lazy to try and find some black metal.

Yeah. I don't mind some melodic death metal, but all the death metal with Cookie Monster vocals isn't for me. Black Metal isn't even good instrumentally.

Black metal is a bunch of death kids who got into the occult and tried to be "Tr00 KVLT!"

I personally don't like most Black Metal as it is in it's current form. I do however like some Ulver and Bathory although as far as modern BM goes, neither band is tr00 anymore.

I like Dimmu Borgir.

I hate most black and death metal, because a good deal of it sounds exactly the same, with what i call cookie monster vocals.

Dimmu Borgir are more diverse which is why i like them.

Those bands aren't black metal. Real black metal bands are made up of struggling black suburbanites from the impoverished ghettos of America. The sole purpose of black metal is to attempt to overthrow the government and mold America into a tyrannous hell, administrated by only the formerly most fortuneless of the poverty-stricken blacks.

Black Metal
While Venom is credited with coining the term “Black Metal” (from their 1982 release of the same name) it is Mayhem and Bathory who gave it its distinct sound. Muddled, murky recording quality, fast paced scratchy guitar riffs, high screamed vocals that are usually barely heard and never understood, and pounding over bearing drums are the key in creating a Black Metal sound. The lyrical themes usually deal with Satanism, death, and even Nationa; Socialism (in the case of Burzum)

Examples: Darkthrone, Bathory, Immortal, Negator, Emperor, old Satyricon, Mayhem.

Revolting echoes from an occupied toilet bowl have more meaning than the average black metal song.

I love Black Metal, ultimate in music, MELODEATH sucks ass, Brutal Death is cool, I couldnt really care for anything other than Black Metal and Brutal Death.

ummm hmmm did you know that black metal bands usually hate death metal bands and in noray deth metal bands got kicked around casue they suck

Black Metal bands try to be the "most extreme" and because of that started hating on Death Metal (interesting side note, Mayhem and Immortal both started as Death Metal bands). DM was like whatever.

And this thread is not about which style of metal is better.
