My favourite of the ones listed are Tristania. Vibeke's vocals are sublime and the music is slower tempo than most of the other bands.

After Forever is my favorite band. You missed a couple like Epica, Delain, Stream Of Passion, Edenbridge, Dama, Nemesea, Noctura and Within Temptation.

Floor Jansen who used to sing with After Forever has just joined Nightwish - to replace Anette. Nightwish fans seem pretty happy about it. Saying she is a decent successor to Tarja.

It is kind of messed up how they replaced Anette while she was away pregnant.

I love Floors work with AF and even her ReVamp material. Hell I love to hear her sing classical pieces but as much as I love her even I have to admit that Tarja made Nightwish and nobody can replace her not even Floor. Getting back to Anette I never really enjoyed her albums with Nightwish however if you want to see her shine you should check out the song she did with Swallow The Sun.

How is Katatonia in any way symphonic? Wut.

I do like Blind Guardian, Therion, Myrath, and Dimmu Borgir. Those are some bands with symphonic elements that are really good. I'm probably forgetting some though.

I haven't heard Colors in the Dark yet. I missed when it got released.
