Jester Race is very good (though I don't have Black Ash Inheritance) but Whoracle holds a very special place in my heart.

Haven't heard them, but if Don dosen't like them then they must be worth listening to, I'll check em out.
|
Prog isn't trendy. In Flames are kinda gay. Listen to Ephel Duath instead.
|
my favorite melodeath album is Heartwork by Carcass
i have only heard in flames new stuff and it is utter ****, but ill check this out cuz i have heard good things about old In Flames |
Favorite In Flames alblum
I think there new stuff is getting a little soft but my favorite alblum is Jesters Race
Yours? |
Clayman without hesitation
Everything else is weak in comparison |

And I like The Jester Race the most. CLASSIC Melodic Death Metal. Genre defining. |
Lunar Strain is the only remotely decent In Flames album.

Here is my order of the albums. Also keep in mind I still haven't heard their second album Subbterrainian or something like that.
Whoracle (Come on this is definately the best.) The Jester Race (It is better than Colony.) Colony (They upped the speed on their music and still stayed original.) Come Clarity (It is more original than Clayman. Clayman was just a copy of Colony.) Clayman (At this point we are at the sucky albums.) Lunar Strain (Yeah it gets much worse.) Soundtrack of Your Escape (OMG yuck!) Reroute to Remain (This album will go to music hell.) |

I remember when I bought Reroute to Remain. I listened to it all the way through, took it back to the store for my money. They wouldn't do that, so they offered a trade of a different CD of less or equal value, so I picked up Of One Blood by Shadows Fall. Best trade in my life. |

****ty In Flames > "good" Shadows Fall but **** yes at the Gorod name \m/ |
Quote:
Yeah, Gorod slays! :thumb: |
I don't listen to In Flames anymore but my favorite album is Whoracle.

Jester Race > Colony > Lunar Strain > Subterranean > Whoracle (too polished sounding for me) > The Tokyo Showdown (yes, I am putting a live album on here) > the rest. |
Yeah, The Jester Race is awesome as well. I like Whoracle just a bit more, but TJR is definitely in 2nd.
|
Lunar Strain > anything else they ever did because they never managed to capture that raw energy ever again.
|
Colony was bland, the only good song on it was the bonus Japanese track 'Man Made God'

As far as old In Flames goes, i would say Clayman, as far as the newer more sing songy stuff I would say Come Clarity.

IM me at algoregrind and I'll send you some old In Flames |

I have the discography, but thanks for the offer! |
In Flames
Anyone like them? I just got into them. I seem l to like a few songs by them.
|
I only have STYE, and am told their older stuff is much better. Seeing as I just only like STYE, I expect great things from their old stuff.... just need to get the money to buy it.
|
word stye is good
|
Everything after Colony sux. Come Calrity shows they are improving though.
|
I wouldn't say any of their stuff sucks, but the earlier stuff has less melodic vocals and more awesome guitar harmonies and the newer stuff has more keyboards and catchy sing songy chorus's. I can't get Come Clarity out of my head, its a good song!
|
Fairly boring Swede-scene garbage. I really blame At The Gates for sucking hard enough to start a trend, but damn every last band that was lame enough to join along.
|
Regarding the Swedes, there's Opeth, Arch Enemy...then everyone else, including IF.
|
When I refer to swede-scene garbage I specifically mean the whole melodeath thing. At The Gates were mediocre at best and when you have a bunch of bands (Dark Tranquility, In Flames and Soilwork at the forefront) playing watered down At The Gates riffs it really only gets worse. The fact that it somehow caught on is pretty insulting to people with ears.
|
Entombed, Raised Fist, Autopsy Torment, Sentanced, Carnage, and Nihlist are the only Swedish bands worth mentioning.

they rock. i wanna see them live :usehead:
|
Actually I think that is one of the greatest band I've ever heard...
The ''soundtrack to your escape'' is amazing... Great songs like ''quiet place'', ''evil in the closet'', ''borders and shading'' and many others... Also great albums ''come clarity'', ''clayman'', ''reroute to remain''... all are really good... |
