I think about the time frame when I call something metal. For instance by todays standards a lot of bands in the 70's aren't heavy, but for the time they were the heaviest music around.

Never heard anything from Iced Earth. Can you suggest a few songs that I could listen to and see what they are like?

Different people like different albums. If you like Kill 'em All and old school thrash/speed metal then you'll like Night of the Stormrider. A good diverse list of the different kinds of songs they do:

Colors
Travel in Stygian
Burnt Offerings
Question of Heaven
Burning Times
Damien
Decleration Day

If your looking for an album to get, my favorite is Night of the Stormrider, but it's a difficult first listen. Maybe try Something Wicked this Way Comes.

cool, I've always wanted to hear some Iced Earth stuff too. I love Kill Em All and thrash, so I'll probably like Night Of The Stormrider.
