National Slayer Day!!!

Found this in a press release on a metal news page. Bolded are the more hilarious parts that I found...

National Day of Slayer...

6.6.06 isn't a date that comes around very often (once per century, to be exact), and while plenty of stupid horror movies and terrible albums will be released for the hype value of the day that bears "the number of the beast", we here at NDoS decided that this would be a perfect day for Hessians across the country to come together and engage in something upon which we can all agree - listening to Slayer! Also, do you really want those evangelical Neo-Cons to have all the fun with their "National Day of Prayer"?

Who Is Slayer...

Slayer is a band from California. Their music has come to epitomize Satanic speed metal music in the latter half of the 20th Century. Their 1986 album, Reign In Blood is one of the single most influential metal albums of all time, typified by the modern classic 'Angel Of Death'.

Official Statement On Participation...

Listen to Slayer at full blast in your car.
Listen to Slayer at full blast in your home.
Listen to Slayer at full blast at your place of employment.
Listen to Slayer at full blast in any public place you prefer.

DO NOT use headphones! The objective of this day is for everyone within earshot to understand that it is the National Day of Slayer. National holidays in America aren't just about celebrating; they're about forcing it upon non-participants.

Taking that participation to a problematic level...

Stage a "Slay-out." Don't go to work. Listen to Slayer.
Have a huge block party that clogs up a street in your neighborhood. Blast Slayer albums all evening. Get police cruisers and helicopters on the scene. Finish with a full-scale riot.
Spray paint Slayer logos on churches, synagogues, or cemeteries.
Play Slayer covers with your own band (since 99% of your riffs are stolen from Slayer anyway).
Kill the neighbor's dog and blame it on Slayer.

Hahahaha, YES!!

hiu 04-27-2006 02:07 AM

I'll give it a shot. The 5 Slayer albums I have won't last too long however.

Doc.DGAF 04-27-2006 10:19 AM

****, that ain't the half of it for me! I ship out to Bush's "war on terrorism" on 06.6.6! Can't say I'm not just a lil' bit jittery about it. My luck Imma hop off my trans. and catch one in the shoulder!

MURDER JUNKIE 04-27-2006 10:24 AM

Good luck DOC!! Unlike most Canadians I fully support and respect servicemen, are you Army? Navy? AF? Marine? I routinely buy dinners for veterans in diners and will buy men in military dress a drink, it is simply the right thing to do. It bothers me to no end that others don't see it and use it to get up on their soapbox.

To stay on topic Slayer day should be fully supported by EVERYONE!!!!

Do me a favor when you arrive and BLARE "ANGEL OF DEATH" for me in IRAQ!!! http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...slap/eddie.gif

Auschwitz, the meaning of pain
The why that I want you to die
Slow death, immense decay
Showers that cleanse you of your life
Forced in
Like cattle
You run
Stripped of
Your life's worth
Human mice, for the Angel of Death
Four hundred thousand more to die
Angel of Death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
Sadistic, surgeon of demise
Sadist of the noblest blood

Destroying, without mercy
To benefit the Aryan race

Surgery, with no anesthesia
Fell the knife pierce you intensely
Inferior, no use to mankind
Strapped down screaming out to die
Angel of Death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
Infamous butcher,
Angel of Death

Pumped with fluid, inside your brain
Pressure in your skull begins pushing through your eyes
Burning flesh, drips away
Test of heat burns your skin, your mind starts to boil
Frigid cold, cracks your limbs
How long can you last
In this frozen water burial?
Sewn together, joining heads
Just a matter of time
'Til you rip yourselves apart
Millions laid out in their
Crowded tombs
Sickening ways to achieve
The holocaust
Seas of blood, bury life
Smell your death as it burns
Deep inside of you
Abacinate, eyes that bleed
Praying for the end of
Your wide awake nightmare
Wings of pain, reach out for you
His face of death staring down,
Your blood running cold
Injecting cells, dying eyes
Feeding on the screams of
The mutants he's creating
Pathetic harmless victims
Left to die
Rancid Angel of Death
Flying free

:yeah:

I believe 6/6/06 is the day the Unholy Alliance tour begins.

I'm going to the Toronto show. I can't wait. http://www.metboard.com/style_emotic.../rockdevil.gif

AFI releases their new album on 6/6/06. But sadly I'm not much of a Slayer fan so how about I blare some Sunn O)))? If I play it loud enough I could cause some internal bleeding.

Thine Eyes Bleed is on that tour, they are from Lon-dump Ontario and the lead singer is Tom Araya's brother http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...fast_mosh3.gif

^ LOL to that. The emoticons are becoming Definitive Junkie.

I love Slayer. Such a damn comprehensive band and I say Tom Araya is the Metal God.

Slayer is too gimmicky and they try way to hard to be vulgar. They have this whole "I hate God thing" and it gets really old. They have every right to express their opinion but from a lyrical standpoint it gets really old to write about the same thing over and over again. And now that they are writing a song about 9/11 from the terrorists standpoint I think they have gone too far with the lame gimmicks. If Slayer had to rely on just their music to build their fan base, they would have burned out long ago, their image is the only thing keeping them alive.

That right there is one of the single dumbest posts I've ever read! get your head out of your a**! Slayer created thrash metal, that's no gimmick. Slayer's music is regarded as being a major influence on death metal. None-the-less, through the higher pitched vocals in their songs (compared to the lower death metal range), notes their influence on black metal. S**t loads of premier black metal acts like Emperor or Mayhem name Slayer as a major influence. As for their "gimmicks," in a 2004 interview with Tom Araya, was asked about their lyrics, "Did critics realize you were wallowing in parody?", Tom Araya replied, "No. People thought we were serious!...Back then you had that PMRC(Parents Music Resource Center), who literally took everything to heart. When in actuality you're trying to create an image. You're trying to scare people on purpose". Those who disagree with the critics will tell you that Slayer has no Nazi sympathies or racist views, and point out that Tom Araya and Dave Lombardo are of Hispanic desent.
Slayer moves to challenge society's norms and problems, thus their lyrics seek to promote opposite ideals of tolerance and nonviolence. On top of that, Slayer is tied to the hardcore punk scene, which is totaly anti-racist.

PostPsychosis 05-01-2006 11:29 AM

I'm not going to quoute everyone, it's simply a waste of time and energy.

Ok first off, I never said Slayer was Nazi sympathizers or racists. I've listened to all of their albums straight through, and I liked one for awhile, but like I said earlier I grew out of it and sold it for 3 dollars.

As for me not being a metal fan, your the one who isn't a metal fan. I said I didn't like your band and why and you couldn't handle it. I'm more of a real metal fan then half the people at my school who listen to Slayer, in fact of all the people who I know that listen to Slayer, I can only think of 3 who actually like them for the music and not the cheap little gimmic they portray, and thats cool.

Oh and Slayer having invented thrash metal?!! You have to be out of your mind or on some serious drugs to even think they invented thrash metal. Thrash metal culminated over a slow period of time begining with Kill 'em All, and is really just a mesh of parts of Diamond Head and Motorhead. You can't really credit any one band for the creation of thrash metal, but if I had to pick two people it would be James Hetfield and Dave Mustaine, who were working on the material for Kill 'em All back in 1981. Oh and you say that they aren't gimmicky, but this "national slayer day" on 6/6/06 is a prime example, and if thats not a gimmick, I don't know what is. And what norms of society do they challenge that they think they can better?

Ok now lets assume that you like the early stuff Reign in Blood and so forth, thats cool, the album has appeal to it, not my tastes but w/e. They never really changed their music, they slowed down a bit and Tom started sucking less at "singing" but other than that they have been cranking out the same over formulated album over and over again, the only exception being South of Heaven.

On a side note I heard a cover of Electric Funeral by Slayer and it made me sad that Tom has the ability to sing that well, but instead he does...whatever he does on all the Slayer albums.

boo boo 05-01-2006 11:34 AM

I don't think Slayer try too hard to be vulgar, in fact, compared to this guy.....

http://img391.imageshack.us/img391/5...llin0la.th.jpg

They aren't even trying at all.

PostPsychosis 05-01-2006 11:37 AM

I think it's track 3 or 4 on Reign in Blood, its called necro something, listen to that and tell me it's not trying hard to be vulgar. Some songs can be evil just in how well they are written, like Hook in Mouth or Leper Messiah. The songs aren't pushing too hard to sound evil, they just come across as really negative, thats how good metal lyrics sound.

Muzak 05-01-2006 02:48 PM

Slayer Rules. And they ain't all trying to hard to be hardcore with their lyrics or anything, they just go more extreme then what people might think. I could think of a bunch of bands that go too hard with the hardcore gimmick that you say Slayer does alot more. Slayer is like a better version of Metallica IMO.

Merkaba 05-01-2006 02:57 PM

Slayer is the ultimate in Thrash, and it's songs like Bitter Peace, God Hates Us All and Payback that make ears bleed.

I love them:D

Doc.DGAF 05-01-2006 04:25 PM

Well, have I been set in my place...not quite. I'd hardly credit Motorhead with the upcomming of trash, try Megadeath, Anthrax, or Sodom, even Pantera! Motorhead fits more into speed metal, as for Diamond Head may have been a real influence on bands like Metallica or Megadeath, but trash metal...no. Do some research before you go tossing out such drivel.

Did you not read what I said? While Motorhead and Diamond Head didn't come up with thrash metal, it was the elements from their music that culminated into thrash metal. In fact as James said about writing Kill 'em All, he just put his "two heads together."

Wow thats smart, "hey this guy likes one band that I don't like, his opinion is wrong," from a creative standpoint, and a talent standpoint Iced Earth kicks the **** out of Slayer, the only thing Slayer has on IE is drums, thats it. IE wins on solos (someone for the love of god take away King's dive bar), they destroy them by a huge margin on rhythm section, especially the bass on later albums, and the vocals well no more needs to be said about the vocals. Of course this is all my opinion, but your the one starting this retarted argument. Iced Earth is my favorite band, and you say they suck, but you don't know why. Do you even listen to music, or do you just like a band and say they are good, or not listen to one and say that they suck, but base if off of nothing. Other people have made good arguments for the case of Slayer, and you seem to like them quite a bit, so lets see some reason behind it.

MURDER JUNKIE 05-03-2006 10:28 PM

Anyone that would rather listen to Iced Earth than Slayer isn't worth my time of day.

To you sir............................................... .............I bid you good day
