The point is not to compare it to other Tool albums. Undertow is nothing like Ænima, Ænima is nothing like Lateralus, Lateralus is nothing like 10,000 Days, etcetera. They've changed quite a bit over the past ten years, and each album seems to expand on its predecessor. You seem to be expecting them to record Ænima II, yet if they did, you'd accuse them of rehashing old material and claiming that they've 'run out of ideas'. It's lose-lose with people like you.

I wasn't sure about it at first either, but it grows on you. They're certainly not a singles band.

His voice is fine, he's just not flaunting it as much on 10,000 Days. He decided to experiment with a few different vocal styles, and I can completely understand why. Doing the same vocals over and over on each album would become rather tedious.

10,000 Days doesn't sound like A Perfect Circle at all, nor does it sound identical to Tool in 2001; it expanded on Lateralus just as Lateralus expanded on Ænima.

Fun fact: Ænima is a combination of the word "Anima", which is latin for soul, and "Enema", which is an anal cleansing procedure... Thus creating a brand new word, meaning "Cleansing Of The Soul".

If anyone wants another inside line on Aenima they should hunt filesharing programs for a live version of Aenima that is roughly 7.30 in length.

This live version gives a wee bit of a hint at the start of the song, Maynard mentions a psychologist called Carl Jung, and a thing called Hycholonics(?).

Good luck finding anything about it, Googles never heard of that word...providing I spelt it right.
