The Official Pantera/Damageplan Thread

PanterA were a great band. Dimebag was THE best upcomong guitrist of the 90's! He kicks ass! But since PanterA have split, they will NOT be releasing any more material. So i want to know what everyone's fav PanterA song is!

You can have any you like, and seen as tho its such a hard choice, we will say ur fav 5 PanterA songs.

Mine are as follows:

1. Cowboys From Hell (excellent to play along to on guitar)
2. F***ing Hostile
3. This Love
4. Hollow
5. Art Of Shredding

That was possibly one of the hardest lists ive ever compiled. I so wanted to put Cemetry Gates in there!

SikThInDaHead 07-07-2004 02:30 AM

Im Broken
F*cking Hostile
Walk
Planet Caravan
Hollow

I dont suppose you know Dumpvalve do you....there from Hull.Im quite good mates with them, they were at Download with me.

Rust In Peace 07-08-2004 06:30 PM

dunno. who's in it? i know a few band coz im inn one myself. but after you've been around a few, u tend to forget band names. coz most of the time they fade away. Wot music do they play?

SikThInDaHead 07-09-2004 10:00 AM

There metal...singers called Steve Cheeez, drummer is Granger, guitarist is Silk, bassist is Big D.They play at the Adelphi quite a lot,The Boom Bar?You might know a band called LeShed aswell....there a bit like (Hed)pe.

itchytasty 07-09-2004 11:14 AM

Drag the Waters
Dominate
This Love
A New Level
Suicide Note, Pt. 2

IamAlejo 07-09-2004 08:21 PM

pantera or dimebag fans??

Anyone like this band? It has vinnie Paul and Dimebag from Pantera.
I like them, but not as much as pantera. The singer even sounds a little like Phil Anselmo IMO.
On that note anyone like Pantera too?

Rust In Peace 07-11-2004 08:12 PM

They are good, but I defn prefer PanterA!!!!!!!!!!
They kicked ASS. Dimebag is IMO the BEST guitarist there is around. And Pantera were just a great band, with great songs!
But thats just my opinion!

Granted this is a GREAT song, but it is nowhere near as good as the likes of:
Walk,
Cowboys From Hell,
Hollow,
.......

So IMO this isn't one of my Fav Pantera Songs, but only coz of the fact that it doesn't require alot of skill to play on the guitar (I can play it), but take Floods for example. Now that is HARD to play, the skill required for that is intense, just like PANTERA themselves!

Beor Uaine 07-11-2004 10:50 PM

I can't choose just one song. This band has so many great songs.

Beor Uaine 07-11-2004 10:58 PM

Dimebag is awesome! I like this band, but it doesn't compare to Pantera.
There was such a great chemistry between Dimebag, Rex, Vinnie, and Phil.

I really miss Pantera. :(

Rust In Peace 07-14-2004 06:38 PM

Best PANTERA Album???

OK then. What is your fav PANTERA album. ALL their albums are included, even those which were released on their own label, METAL MAGIC between 1983 - 1988.

So whats it to be?

Metal Magic (1983)
Projects In The Jungle (1984)
I am the night (1985)
Power Metal (1988)
Cowboys From Hell (1990)
Vulgar Display of Power (1992)
Far Beyond Driven (1994)
The Great Southern Trendkill (1996)
Official Live:101 Proof (1997)
Reinventing the steel (2000)

itchytasty 07-15-2004 08:38 AM

for me it would be between Vulgar Display of Power and Far Beyond Driven... i chose Far Beyond Driven.

best pantera song

whats your fav pantera song? The Walk is my pick. and what do you think is their fastest song?

Pit-Bull84 11-23-2004 10:54 AM

The title to that song is "Walk", no "The" in front of it.
Not trying to blast you or anything, just wanted to inform you.

Pantera was THE BEST heavy-metal band IMO.
They always blew Metallica away.

My favorite song would have to be "I'm Broken".

I love the riff and the lyrics are great as well.

[MERIT] 11-23-2004 11:39 AM

Im going with "Walk" but i havent heard all of their stuff.

itchytasty 11-23-2004 02:52 PM

i like "Drag the Water"

"Suicide Note Pt. 2" is what comes to mind when i think of their faster paced stuff...

PoppySeedBagel15 11-23-2004 05:38 PM

Cowboys From Hell Is The Best
Cemetray Gates Is The 2nd Best No Question

PoppySeedBagel15 11-23-2004 05:39 PM

.....Believe the word, I will unlock my door, And pass the Cemetery gates.....

This thread is for all those who want to pay respect to the memory of "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott.

A gunman stormed the stage during a heavy metal concert in Columbus, Ohio, on Wednesday night (December 8th 2004).

Dimebag was the best. He worked for his talent, and it is a great loss to society that he is no more.

man....what you guys think about this massacre at the Pantera show in columbus ohio? apparently, the guitarist for Pantera was shot dead, along with some fans. this is f*cked up.

blackTshirt 12-10-2004 12:10 AM

that's awful, why do this kind of things have to happen??

dance0fdeath 12-10-2004 03:44 AM

what a ****in bastard! can't believe dimebag's dead...

dog 12-10-2004 05:41 AM

fuk yea, its awful wat happend. like the guy who shot him was some ex-nazy seal guy.

[MERIT] 12-10-2004 07:11 AM

at least the police shot the motherf***er who did it. i hope he rots in hell for what he did.

theman78370 12-10-2004 07:26 AM

damn, that's sad... but, as in a song by the same name, "ash to ash, dust to dust, the memory remains..." -Mettalica

[MERIT] 12-10-2004 11:37 AM

i heard its was like 30 or 40 years to the day that john lennon was shot. eerie.

[MERIT] 12-10-2004 11:53 AM

i heard that when the psycho who shot him jumped up on stage, he yelled something like "youre the reason pantera broke" and "you ruined my life".

Thrice 12-11-2004 05:18 AM

I have to admit, that is a pretty sweet way to go though.
