and i'm entitled to a preference. you don't have to make fun of me for it. i'm not bashing whatever you're into.

Some people aren't open minded my friend. To some, if you're not mocking something you're part of it, or you love it. Half the boards are teenagers, you'll have to get use to it.

Bands without satanic themes? What are some examples of music with satanic themes. And while im not against it, I do think most satan music is sung by high school losers who never had any friends.

well supposedly Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" was endorsed by some major figure in the satanic church. and it is said if played backward has some satanic praises on it or something to that effect.

Also Rush has pentacles on several of their albums, as does Slayer.

Iron Maiden has that album "The Number of the Beast".

The Beatles feature the founder of the satanic church on the cover of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"

The Rolling Stones had some song that glorified satan (i forget the name)

The origin of Black Sabbath's name is rooted in the occult. plus they had Ozzy Osbourne

AC/DC's name is rumored to mean after christ, devil comes

i'm just having a major dilemma because i liked Led Zep's music and then i hear about this. I overhear a nice, catchy song... it's Iron Maiden or Black Sabbath. i'm having a hard time reconciling listening to music that is rooted in or is tied to such dark stuff.

i'm not asking for christian boy band rock, i'm just wondering if there are any bands that have similar styles to Led Zep, Iron Maiden, or Rush that aren't satanic?

Black Sabbath got their name from an Italian horror movie released in the early 60's.

You might like Alice In Chains, Deep Purple, Down, Fu Manchu, High On Fire, Kyuss, the Melvins, Nebula, Orange Goblin, Priestess, the Queens Of The Stone Age, Sleep, Soundgarden, and The Sword. All heavy bands, none of which are Satanic. Oh, and you'd probably like Trouble. They're sometimes called "White Sabbath", hah. Same style of music, but with Christian lyrics.

Backmasked messages are often imaginary, while backmasking is a real process that exists, theres no real evidence of an intentional backmasked message in STH, theres various interpretations of what the "message" in STH actually says, there was even an experiement done in 1985 by two psychologists that was used on several people with the song Another One Bites The Dust, no one could hear any backmasked message when it was played, at least not until they wore told what it was, and they would be given messages that weren't actually in the song, and they would hear the apparent "message" in the recording... This seems to prove that its really just a matter of the mind, very much like optical illusions. Its essentially the same as seeing different formations in the clouds.

Slayer are not Satanists, they are Athiests, their music does have Satanic content, but it's meant to provoke and shock, as opposed to representing any sincerely held beliefs by the band.... In fact if you even studied the religion of Satanism, you would find that Satanists don't actually worship Satan at all, or worship anything for that matter, its a purely symbolic religion.

Steve Harris wrote the title song, and it's based on a dream he had, he's actually very critical of Satanism, no one in the band is actually a Satanist, that I know of.

They also wanted to put Hitler on the cover but couldn't, it was really just an artistic thing, perhaps an easter egg intended to piss off their Christian critics. I don't know what Paul and Ringos religious beliefs are, but I know that George was a devout Hindu and that John was Agnostic.

I think Mick Jagger even produced some Satanic films, yeah, I think they actually are Satanists. But I don't even like The Stones that much to begin with.

None of their lyrics are really Satanic, in fact some could even pass as Christian, I think everyone in the band but Ozzy is Catholic.

Other alledged abbreviations are "Anti Christ/Death to Christ" and "Anti Christ/Demon Child" but that is all bull. It actually means "Alternating Current/Direct Current". Angus had seen it on the back of a valcum cleaner and thought it would be a cool band name.

Well like someone else here said, the blues was considered Satanic, and of course that is where rock music is rooted. So I can imagine that if you are Christian, your pastor would have a problem with you listening to any rock music period.

Rush aren't Satanic, they're just Canadian.

But if you want stuff like Rush, I recomend some *here I go* good ol' progressive rock. Click the two links in my sig, theres a lot of good musical recomendations there.

Angus Young got the name while he was fixing his sisters vacuum cleaner.
