I really like that Trivium song, if it is the one I am thinking of. It has that really epic solo inspired my Metallica. If thats the one then I voted for it.

Thumbs up

lol yea. I's listening to Mr Brownstone and this dudes like its *** and I need to listen to some good music like trivium. He told me like light to the flies is their best song, so I compared an average guns n roses song to triviums best song to bum him out.

Oh well, insular metal heads don't really get music to begin with. They listen to metal because it sounds more aggressive and vicious and thats what they lack in their own lives, so by living vicariously through these viking figure heads, they feel they have control, if only in fantasy land.

Tell him to cut his hair and join society.

If you have ever read Nick Hornby's book 31 Songs he has a theory to this.
His idea is that metal is easy for teens to get into because the fact that it's loud & aggressive means that it's easy to distinguish if something is bad or good , based on how heavy it is , or how fast the guitarist or drummer is.
With other genres of music like folk or country you don't have this automatic guide to what is good or bad and so you have to work out what is good or bad based on things like songwriting , originality & talent rather than just how fast or loud or how much 'it rocks'.

And before I get flamed by metalheads ... it's not my theory.

Why in the world did you resurrect a thread that hasn't been around for five years?

I don't know what the reason was, but it's reminded me to check out the book Urban is recommending.

Edit: Why does it say (Country, metal) in the title?
