i find that people who complain about poor musicianship are always shredheads who listen to steve vai and malmsteen and think that speed and technical musicianship is much better than soul or songwriting. by the way the ramones were doing the bad music thing a long time before nirvana and ask dave grohl if you think he's a bad musician.

The Ramones knew they weren't great musicians but they also knew music was about more than technical ability. Joe Strummer voiced his concerns to Johnny Ramone that he didn't think the band was good enough musically to perform at CBGB but Johnny told him who gives a ****? Punk was always more about attitude, delivery, and the message than technical ability. And of course crafting kick-ass tunes.
But I don't know why I'm making the same points that have been brought up so many times. I'm just fueling this goddamn redundancy. |
If you hate AC/DC, I hate you.

Yeah that does bug me somewhat.
'All AC/DC songs sound the same blah blah blah' They`re a 12 bar boogie pub band , what the hell do you expect. |

Thing with me, I find pretty much all Rock N Roll repetitive, and AC/DC and The Ramones are repetitive because they're Rock N Roll, simple as that. As for Nirvana, I don't see them as being that repetitive at all, at least not more than the typical metal band, and most people who do hate Nirvana and call them repetitive are metalheads, which is pretty damn ironic. But thats the thing, any band with a consistant sound/style can be called repetitive, hell, I know a lot of metalheads who think Radiohead are repetitive even though they are always experiementing in some way or another. I think some genres are just more repetitive than others. |
