I ask your typical Punk fan and they would scoff at the idea.
As far as attitude goes, maybe. And they had some punky tunes such as Territorial Pissings. Overall i'd say no though. |

A lot of people seem to be very hung up on 'labels' here. I personally think they had a 'punk' attitude in the early days - i.e. not giving a sh*t and doing their own thing - but hey what does it matter? It's only my opinion. Tag whatever label you like onto it but it doesn't change the music.

I half-agree, it would be wrong to classify them as pure punk or pure grunge, they were a very diverse band. For example, (in my opinion) Heart-Shaped Box doesn't belong in the same genre as say Negative Creep. |
