'Nirvana killed rock, they turned it into "depression"...which isn't what rock is about'

Nirvana killed the 'Hairband' rock that was shallow and pathetic. Nirvana didn't kill rock, they revived it. In the spirit of Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, and Velvet Underground, they went against the grain and created something that was raw and refreshing.

Best song for me would be Rape Me, Not the biggest Nirvana fan but do appreciate the music!

They didn't "create" anything.
I can name plenty of bands that sounded like Nirvana, before Nirvana.
They just made it popular. Which is ironic since they were, oh yeah "alternative" musicians

I realize he was partially wrong, but why do you bother posting in here bungalowbill? Most of what you have to say is negative, and i'm pretty sure we all know you don't like nirvana but posting and arguing about it excessively isn't going to lead to anything good.

You're one to talk.
Read the Sublime thread......then come in here and tell me that again.

'Hairband' rock killed itself by being sh*t since about 1983 onwards, Nirvana filled the gap it created.

Interesting choice of bands you chose , you denounce 'hairband' rock as being shallow then go on to list a cock rock band , a band who sing mostly about sex & drug and Black Sabbath , a band as much as I love I can`t ever recall being known as for writing thought provoking lyrics.

Just as a statement Meat Puppets were a lot better than Nirvana and they were around during that time and before I believe. And they were a hell of a lot better. And Nirvana didn't create much they just made the grunge scene more mainstream for a couple of years.

Screaming Trees were pretty bloody good too. They were another neglected grunge band alongside the Meat Puppets.
