I don't remember when they weren't around in one form or another. The only thing I can't stand is that they can't decide what genre they are. One of my uncles used to listen to them back in the ska punk days. I got into them is the 90's with Lights Camera Revolution. They were never the best for me, but they always had staying power. Lyrics wise, there always seemed to be meaning to me. Any other fans out there?

They did start as punk, but ended up changing to more thrash metal. I still can't help but grin when I hear lovely.

I like their S/T but I haven't heard much else from them. I listen to Infectious Grooves as well (featuring Trujillo and Muir). Trujillo's bassplaying is off the planet.

I like both Suicidal Tendencies and Infectious Grooves. ST had litle influences going on in their songs that separated them from the slew of thrash bands around at the time. How Will I Laugh Tomorrow was a great album and Join The Army was great too. Always loved their clean sound. IG's first album done nothing for me but MAS BORACCHO is absolutely banging.

Suicidal Tendencies, formed in Venice,California, was originally a Hardcore Punk band but then became a Crossover Thrash group and added Funk elements later on, vocalist Mike Muir is the only member that remained in all line up changes, this band sings about life, politics and society but sometimes humor is incorporated into the lyrics.

Suicidal Tendencies are an American hardcore punk band, formed in 1982 in Venice, California.
Singer and songwriter Mike Muir (a.k.a. "Cyco Miko") has been the only constant member. Sometimes regarded as the progenitors of skate punk, they later incorporated significant heavy metal, thrash metal, and even funk and hip hop elements into their sound. The band's name was inspired by information about the then local state-run insane asylum, which presently stands as California State University Channel Islands.

Suicidal Tendencies is a band that was founded in Venice, Los Angeles, California, in 1981 by the leader and only permanent member, singer Mike Muir. The band is credited as one of the "the fathers of crossover thrash". To date, Suicidal Tendencies have released ten studio albums (one of which is composed of never-before released material and the other is a re-recording of their first album), two compilation albums, four split albums, one VHS, and one EP.

Suicidal Tendencies rose to fame with their 1983 self-titled debut album, which spawned the single "Institutionalized". That single was one of the first hardcore punk videos to receive substantial airplay on MTV. Suicidal Tendencies did not release a follow-up record until 1987, with Join the Army. The album attracted the attention of Epic Records, who signed the band in 1988 and issued their third album, How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can't Even Smile Today, later that year. This was followed by their next two albums, Controlled by Hatred/Feel Like ****...Déjà Vu and Lights...Camera...Revolution!, which were also successful and both certified Gold by the RIAA. After releasing two more studio albums (The Art of Rebellion and Suicidal for Life), Suicidal Tendencies called it quits in 1995. However, they reunited in 1997 and have continued to perform and record since then.

Judging from their name, Suicidal Tendencies were never afraid of a little controversy. Formed in Venice, CA, during the early '80s, the group's leader from the beginning was outspoken vocalist Mike Muir. The outfit specialized in vicious hardcore early on -- building a huge following among skateboarders, lending a major hand in the creation of skatepunk -- before turning their focus eventually to thrash metal. Early on, the group (whose original lineup included Muir, guitarist Grant Estes, bassist Louiche Mayorga, and drummer Amery Smith) found it increasingly difficult to book shows, due to rumors of its members' affiliation with local gangs and consistent violence at their performances. The underground buzz regarding Suicidal Tendencies grew too loud for labels to ignore though, as the quartet signed on with the indie label Frontier; issuing Muir and company's classic self-titled debut in 1983. The album quickly became the best-selling hardcore album up to that point; its best-known track, "Institutionalized," was one of the first hardcore punk videos to receive substantial airplay on MTV, and was eventually used in the Emilio Estevez cult classic movie Repo Man, as well as in an episode for the hit TV show Miami Vice (for which the group made a cameo appearance).

Suicidal Tendencies are the fathers of skate punk and one of the seminal bands to mix punk and heavy and thrash in the early 80s (along with other bands like: Anthrax, Beowülf, Corrosion of Conformity). Originally made up of Mike Muir on vocals, Mike Dunnigan on bass, Mike Ball on guitar and Carlos Egert on drums, they had changed line-ups at least four times before their first release in 1983 Suicidal Tendencies. The video for their single "Institutionalised" was the first hardcore punk video to get heavy rotation play from MTV and featured those now immortal lyrics; "All I wanted was a Pepsi".
