Cool Alice Cooper (The Band)

No no no no no not that one

I mean the original Alice Cooper band that were together from the late 60s to the mid 1970s.Forget the sad old parody of a man thats around now , forget Schools Out although it is a good song. The stuff this band recorded in the early 70s never gets the credit it derseves. Albums like Love It To Death , Killer & Billion Dollar Babies should be mandatory for anyone who likes rock or punk.It was raw , it was totally different to anything else around at the time , it was just one big **** you to the hippy generation.
Without Alice Cooper punk wouldn`t have happened. You can quote the Velvet Underground , The Stooges & Iggy at me all day long.It wasn`t any of those bands that Johnny sang at his Pistols audition. It wasn`t those bands that Dave Vainan nicked his whole stage gimmick off.

So yes , use this thread to give the Cooper band some love. And if you are coming here to say you loved the song 'Poison' you can just leave now.

I was so tempted to just write "poison rules." While your opinion was vlaid (albeit arrogant) the sex pistols were not the one trick pony we should site for artistic influence.

Why don't we just say "Hey Alice in Chains rules...look at staind"

Thumbs up Alice Cooper (The Band)

I had to revive this thread once I accidentally ran across it. The original band Alice Cooper itself, is often left completely out of the subject when most people discuss Cooper's music and career.

Alice Cooper was originally (a "band") consisting of Vincent Damon Furnier (via: Alice Cooper) on vocals and harmonica, lead guitarist Glen Buxton, Michael Bruce on rhythm guitar, Dennis Dunaway on bass guitar, and drummer Neal Smith. The original Alice Cooper band broke into the international music mainstream with the 1971 hit "I'm Eighteen" from the album Love it to Death, which was followed by the even bigger single "School's Out" in 1972. The band reached their commercial peak with the 1973 album Billion Dollar Babies.

The Alice Cooper band is very underrated and often left out of the equation when the subject of Alice Cooper comes up.
Alice Cooper adopted the name of the band after they broke up and he went on to pursue a solo career.

Some of Cooper's classic rock singles include.

Welcome To My Nightmare
Under My Wheels
No More Mr. Nice Guy
Billion Dollar Babies

Are just to name a few.

I'm, not a huge fan, but I like them. Something I've found slightly hilarious for some years now is how incredibly naive the lyrics for their classic "No More Mr. Nice Guy" is.
My dog bit me on the leg today
My cat clawed my eye
Mom's been thrown out of the social circles
And dad has to hide
I went to church incognito
When everybody rose
The Reverend Smithy
He recognized me
And punched me in the nose
Poor guy

I often play my Alice Cooper cds from this era and the unholy trilogy of Love It To Death, Killer and Billion Dollar Babies are some of the best rock albums ever released from the early 70s. I was never that much of a fan of the Schools Out album and it was curtains really for the band after the dour Muscle of Love album.

The only problem with this is that Alice Cooper is a rock god, Poison is one of the best songs in existance.
