I'm in eighth, and that music might be big on the rock scene, but rock is dying with the new generation...

I listen to Disturbed and SOAD a bit, and I know from experience you could almost definetly get him onto 90's music, especially grunge. Try giving him some Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, or Rage Against the Machine.

And just be f*cking grateful he isn't listening to rap and low-riding...

I've been hearing that for years. It isn't going to happen. Rock and metal will continue to evolve like everything else.

Okay, what I said was going a bit far.

Rock is going through a time of trial right now, especially with the wave of death and nu metal that everyone is somehow. enjoying

EDIT: Half the kids in my school have no clue who Kurt Cobain, Tom Morello, or even Jimi Hendrix are.

That wouldn't be too much of a loss if they know of Chuck and Mr. Akerfeldt.

My point is you can't expect all kids to like the music their parents listen to.

Aw ****. And there's me thinking ODB would bind a father & son together.

Get him into stuff that influenced the bands he's into. It's how my music taste improved. Requires research mind.

Just because rap isn't kosher, there's no need to badmouth it.
