Dave Mustaine is still my favorite metal douchebag.

The live version on the 'Rude Awakening' DVD is killer but I am a sucker for monotonous riffs I have to admit.

I used to be a big Metallica fan, but as the years passed by their music started to appeal less and less to me. After St. Anger I was disappointed. Megadeth on the other hand hasn't changed their musical style too much, if anything it's gotten heavier and I can still listen to it without thinking twice. So, my vote is for Megadeth.

It took you until St. Anger to be disappointed with Metallica? Man, they've been disappointing me for at least a decade and a half.

Oh, spot on, spot on.

Everything after The Black Album sucked.

I agree with this. Some people argue that the Black album is the beginning of their suck era, but I for one liked it. After that though...it's all downhill.

It's definitely not a horrible album, some of the songs are about up to the level of ...And Justice for All, but it's a bit of a step down from what came before. Then, of course, after the black album came the truly precipitous drop in quality.

I don't even like... And Justice For All either. The production annoys the hell out of me. Since Master Of Puppets the only release that I like is Garage, Inc and that was a covers album.

Best Misfits cover ever was on that album. Also a fan of Whiskey in the Jar and Turn the Page (Iggy Pop and Bob Seger, respectively).

Is it the drums? I've always thought the drums on that album were produced in a way that's a bad fit for a thrash album. It's like they used the same sound engineering techniques that they'd use on a Peter Gabriel album.

You have to admit that "Dyers Eve" is a damn fine Metallica song though.
