Gza_Genius 04-10-2005 01:25 PM

riseagainstrocks 04-10-2005 03:55 PM

"I wanna **** you like an animal."

the deepness is overwhelming

lilbloodredridinghood 04-10-2005 04:14 PM

Its supposed to be released May 3rd in U.S.A.

And yes, The Hand That Feeds is excellent.

Kudos to Reznor

looking forward to it.
my friend was tellin me he's got a bootleg of it, i'll let you know if I hear it before the release date.
The Fragile pissed me off, so if they're gonna sound as good as their old stuff, i'm talking Pretty Hate Machine quality. although i doubt they'll ever go down that road again.

Clearly someone is untrained in poetic effect. And furthermore if your

A.) Going to take one line out of context
B.) Insult one of the better musical frontmen of the last ten years) and
C.) Just be negitive for the sake of it with no purpose

just leave.

hookers with machineguns 04-10-2005 06:56 PM

...not to mention that The Downward Spiral was a superb album, and if you've heard it through, I don't think you'd be questioning Trent Reznor's songwriting ability.

Insanely_Sane 04-10-2005 07:17 PM

Awesome, ive only heard a small bit of their old stuff...which is shameful i know..*hides in the corner so angry NIN fans dont hurt me* but if anyone can reccomend like their fav NIN song, and fav album etc. etc...oh and if With Teeth comes out in the US May 3rd..how long do you think us Australians will have to wait? COZ I CANT WAIT THAT LONG!! AHHHHH!!!!

hookers with machineguns 04-10-2005 07:22 PM

I'd expect it to be a day later than the US release date.

I really think Pretty Hate Machine and The Downward Spiral are worth every penny. I would listen to these albums, before any critics make any fast judgments about them. A NIN collection is sufficient with just those two honestly.
My favorite songs all come off Pretty hate machine- Sin, Sanctified, and Terrible Lie.

VixyFiend 04-10-2005 07:34 PM

lets not forget head like a hole ppl!

its great trent n all are back finally (jeez its been long enough - i needs a new nin fix :-)) And for those Britains reading its out May 2nd yaaaaay

ok lemme rephrase that.

A) welcome to the real world. no one is going to read the entire song, which i did upon your comment and find that unless i've had rediculous mind/actual sex with a girl/guy whatever, I wouldn't understand the song. Whatever

B) I have no comment. I wasn't insulting him. He might be a great performer. I simply don't think that song is very...deep, as the original poster said so. I have never seen them live but a friend invited me a few weeks ago since he's (they're?) touring this summer in support of the new album and I might tag along

C) can't argue with that. It was more sarcasm directed at the original poster.

lilbloodredridinghood 04-12-2005 10:38 AM

you obviously know nothing about Nine Inch Nails, riseagainstrocks, so please, before you make me really mad...stop talking on this thread.

The Fragile is an amazing album...definately check that out if you havent. Everything is amazing, but The Fragile is just...well quite frankly, it's a beautiful work of art.

I have no idea about you Australians :P, I'd assume a day or two later than US, but don't mark my words. I can't guarantee anything. We did have a hearing over here where they just played the CD at a club for fans to hear, so I'm sure there's a bootleg floating around on the internet of it somewhere. Might be extremely hard to find though...Anyways, good luck if you try.

i'd just like to take this a bit further because within the 5 seconds after i posted that, i've come to the conclusion that you already have made me very mad.

Closer is a very creative song. although it is alittle profound as some might say, it's clever and the way it was mixed is nice. That song alone is not NIN though, it is very apparent you have not been exposed to the other side of NIN, and that my friend is a sin. Not only because you havent been exposed to it, but because you have the nerve to start talking about reznor and the rest of NIN like you actually know what you're talking about.

Riseagainstrocks, if you want MY recommendation, I'd stay away from the Fragile and give Pretty Hate Machine and the rest of The Downward Spiral a listen. I promise you, you won't be disappointed. :)

maryjane88 04-12-2005 02:15 PM

Don't Forget "closer" Or My Personal Favorite "hurt" I Love Nin They're ****ing Great And Amazing Very Unique, And Did I Mention Wow Wow Love Them To Death

lilbloodredridinghood 04-12-2005 02:54 PM

I'd like to know why everyone thinks that The Downward Spiral is the nin bible just because Hurt is on it! Let's steer away from that someday, shall we?

hookers with machineguns 04-12-2005 04:06 PM

who the f*ck said Downward Spiral was good just because of Hurt? Of the 14 songs on that cd, I can think of 12 that are better than Hurt.

lilbloodredridinghood 04-12-2005 04:30 PM

I wasn't saying that about you, ****o, I was talking about the other one. But, I will say that I am sick of hearing everyone say that The Downward Spiral is fantastic. Although I do like it, in MY opinion it is not the greatest. The Fragile really got to me emotionally...and I do believe I have the right to say that, if I recall correctly. How can you tell someone to steer away from something they love? that's ridiculous. Don't get me wrong. Don't think The Fragile is the only album I've heard, I had a bunch of Halo's at one point, but you have to realize that my opinion is The Fragile owns all. You have your opinion I'll have mine and get on with your life. K? K!

riseagainstrocks 04-15-2005 06:51 PM

some people are a little touchy. since i like hookers and he actually respected that fact that i had a dissenting opinion, I'll give them another whirl ( a friend of mine likes them alot so i can borrow the cds).

a lilbloodred, calm yourself, you post things that are retarded al the time, such as your crack on Terri Schiavo.

lilbloodredridinghood 04-15-2005 08:22 PM

i am retarded. stop. that's why. stop. i'm a retarded terri schiavo impersonator and i fly all across america pretending to be terri schiavo's dead body. stop...because i am the almighty retarded lilbloodredridinhood. stop. take it like your mom. end.

im not so sure it would be classified as dissenting as it would fit into the "argument for the hell of it" catagory.

Look im no NIN fan boi but the fact is that Trent makes really good music. To dice his entire lyrical catalouge up on the fact that one line from one song doesn't fit with Shakespeare, well im sorry but its not accurate and it certainly isn't fair.

Im not here to attack but next time just attack the poster and not a band that deserves credibility.

riseagainstrocks 04-16-2005 01:00 PM

^ fair is fair. and i did have a dissenting view. I didn't like them. I did however judge after one or two songs so I will give them another chance

coffeeshop 04-17-2005 08:57 AM

I love the Hand That Feeds song, can't wait to hear more of the album.

Sneer 04-17-2005 10:20 AM

yep great song. doesnt sound as industrial as their older stuff to me.

its a small concept called personal opinion. just because you dont rate it doesnt mean everybody else has to share your view, so get over yourself petal. FURTHERMORE, you harp on about "how can you tell someone to steer clear from something they love" yet in the previous post you were saying "lets steer away from that someday shall we?" is their a rule for you then a different one for everybody else? you sound a tad hypocritical with a dose of tunnel vision.

Iced Gems 04-17-2005 03:57 PM

so first post and probably very controversial but NIN have done nothing good since pretty hate machine, (broken and fixed not really counting as they weren't proper albums)

the downward spiral is an awful album.......

and it just got worse...

pretty hate machine was a genre defying ground breaking piece of work and then it all went horribly borribly wrong.....

Are you on crack?
More for the first sentence but in the second you said,"Pretty Hate Machine was a genre defying ground breaking..." now not that that doesn't make sense but if I understood the point you were trying to make then you are wrong too. It didn't break any ground....except industrial techno.psh, I don't like you.

ahh you can't call a person's opinion about music wrong..... it's completely subjective... surely......

and it did break ground, it spawned a whole new breed of bands, whether you like that or not, it ws influential, nevermind was also an influentiual album, i think its pretty **** not as good as bleach but i'd never deny its influence...

glad to see your so quick to judge.....

Trauma 04-17-2005 04:21 PM

^
Glad to see you're so quick to change the topic to a Nirvana album????

Iced Gems 04-17-2005 04:24 PM

nope not quick, just an example, i could give you more.....

stone roses......
prodigy.....
NWA.....

there are certain albums that you can't deny their significance on music even if you don't like that kind of music....

personally i hate the beatles, with a passion, but i could never deny their influence on music.......

you have to be subjective about these things

Trauma 04-17-2005 04:27 PM

^
Well no, I was just questioning the logic you used when changing the topic to all these different bands when we were discussing NIN......Idk.

Iced Gems 04-17-2005 04:33 PM

was just trying to prove a point after you were so quick to dismiss my point........

just because you think its techno, industrial psh does not negate the fact that it was ground breaking.... capiche....

i stand by the fact that pretty hate machine is a fantastic album.....it changed a lot and then trent disappeared up his own ringpiece.......

Trauma 04-17-2005 04:34 PM

How do you not love the ringpiece he went through??
Down the Spiral is a wonderful album, you should be shot for **** like that.

Iced Gems 04-17-2005 04:41 PM

no no no

he just whinged and whinged.....

"i hurt myself today to see if i still feel"

shut up.......

Trauma 04-17-2005 04:42 PM

Hey Johnny Cash sang that also, so watch it.....

Iced Gems 04-17-2005 04:46 PM

to be fair the johnny cash version is amazing......

its just trent whining on i think and the massive 4 minutes of white noise at the end is so unnecssary....

Trauma 04-17-2005 04:48 PM

It IS necessary, it makes the song dramatic and entertaining!
And, you must answer my "are you a chick" question because if you're a chick and think that Shirley Manson is hot then I like you.

Iced Gems 04-17-2005 04:52 PM

entertaining in a oh my god what is he doing the self indulgent prick kind of way......

and yes i am female, god this inter forum posting is complicated....

Trauma 04-17-2005 04:54 PM

Yep, I don't really like looking at every goddamn thread to continue this conversation.

Iced Gems 04-17-2005 04:57 PM

yeah its kind of tedious.....
