I will always see Van Halen and Zeppelin as Rock N Roll bands... just as I now view the Ramone's as a punk rock band (leaning more towards rock).

I see bands like Mega Death and early Metallica as Metal.

Like I said - some do, some don't.

Yeah - I personally see them as hard rock. Anyways...I think that anger and power are two things that help achieve the "metal sound" and so a lot of metal utilizes those two things in order for it to be just that - metal. But there probably metal bands out there singing about sunshines and rainbows because metal and anger aren't synonyms. I wouldn't be surprised in the least.

Those types of songs tend to come across as jokes when compared to a metal song about kicking some ass or drinking Satan's blood. I think Megadeath should cover the Carpenters... let's see how it pans out.

I have a feeling "Rainy days and Mondays" would be the best track on the CD. Of course it's one of the only downer type Carpenter songs, go figure.

Metal bands covering sugary pop hits has been done to death.

I want to see a metal band cover something Can or Current 93. That would be much more interesting.

And I don't see them as being a particularly good bad, so that answers my opinion on the question, since I love metal but just cannot get into Maiden.

MEGADETH. NO SECOND A.

Besides, 'deth have done some terrible covers...i think they should leave that one alone.

I for one want to hear some electronica covered by metal bands.
