Their last great album was The Ritual in 1992.

Great band. I really like their first 4 albums, and The Legacy and Practice What You Preach are my favorites.

Any recommendations on where to start with with the bands listed on the first page?

Can't stand them now though. Last couple of albums sucked for me
Like so many other albums, I think you and I were being rocked by this at around the same time. Definitely one of my faves from the 80's thrash genre.

Fixed It for ya.

The Ritual is not that good.

The Gathering on the other hand is like a Supergroup of talented people. Chuck Billy, James Murphy, Steve DiGiorgio and Dave Lombardo. Can't go wrong with a line up like that. Easily amongst the best material they have done.

I really like The Gathering line-up, but not so much the album itself. I don't know what it is about it, I just can't get into it like I can with their first four albums.

Takes a few listens I suppose, but gets better with each. "Demonic" on the other hand is awful, that one I can not listen to.

I'll give it another listen then. I haven't listened to Demonic yet, though.

Demonic was Testament's attempt at full on Death Metal, and not a very good one... they should stick to Thrash Metal.

The Gathering though hinted at it, kinda of had elements of Death Metal, but still stuck to Thrash as well.

Speaking of Testamant, got this for $1 on cassette recently:

One of my favorite scores recently.
