I bet he inspired more people to pick up a guitar than your beloved purveyor of dullness.

And the thing is people who don't rank him highly are the ones that don't even listen to the music. I don't know many that have given DT or Liquid Tension Experiment a chance, and don't put him in the top 10.

Also, when they he is a straight shredder, that is when you know they have no idea what they are talking about. Listen to State of Grace, or The Spirit Carries On and you will see page, hendrix, or others couldn't hold a candle to his "emotional" playing

Blues guitar is the epitome of playing with emotion. If you don't get it, tough luck. A lot more people will have greater emotional responses from a Jimi Hendrix or a B.B. King than John Petrucci.

Btw, this list isn't based on technicality. Even if it was, John Petrucci probably wouldn't make top 10.

This whole arguement has been about John Petrucci? I was reading the posts and thinking at least this guy had a formidable candidate to argue upon. Give me a ****ing break dude.

are you kidding? Blues guitar has emotion, but so does the minor scale, or a couple of the other modes. A lot of people have greater emotional responses to Kanye West than any of these guys. But who gives a **** what they think. T

Hey if you don't listen to Petrucci than don't put him on the list and admit ignorance.

However, you CANNOT call his playing emotionless and robotic.
