Someone mind summing up what exactly dark folk is? Im curious to know, before i try listening to it. One of a few genres I haven't ever touched.

Trolling again I see?

Rezz get The angels Of Light album and listen to that. Dark Folk can combine elements of Metal too. It is generally downbeat but wonderfully atmospheric. CA could give a more erudite description.

Now even I'm confused...are you looking for metal/rock stuff or just dark-folk?!
Something like This
Anyways, you should try Darkwood's Flammende Welt. The lyrics are mainly in german, but I've found some translations.

I can't post links so just do a myspace search for Varghkoghargasmal. That is dark folk. The band calls it wood metal...i guess you could call it whatever makes you happy.

good dark folk albums

I would suggest Jordan Reyne. Her lastest album is a dark folk / folk noir narrative (she sings though - beautifully) set on the west coast of New Zealand. You might want to check it out here: dubdubdub dot darkfolk dot de or you can just put jordan reyne in a google search (as a newbie I can't post links yet! sorry!)
I found a couple of reviews here too from the website:

"A jewel of industrial folk...(Reyne's) fascinatingly powerful voice...and reliance on substance over gloss make „How the Dead Live“ an impressive album. Disturbingly beautiful. A must have - not just for lovers of dark and industrial folk, but for everyone." Unser Luebeck (Germany)

"A fascinating and intense listen. Reyne's voice, as ever, is a gift and.. she chooses to use it by applying the tools of a story writer and an illustrator... here is something worth celebrating, a song writer who didn't come down in the last shower of record company advances and marketing hype" The Dominion Post (Wellington, New Zealand)

Hope that helps!
