Not to take away from your picks KMS and Carl M but if you posed a video or something else myself and others would actually listen to it.

I've heard some good Fripp solos over the year. Check out his little known albums with The Police guitarist Andy Summers. And then there are Fripp's contributions to David Sylvian's albums.

Antoher Sylvian contributor on guitar is David Torn - as good as Fripp, maybe better, and cetainly more varied in what he can play.

To those who llike Hendrix solos, checkout German guitarist Ulrich Roth , or Uli Jon Roth. He started out as axeman for Scorpions (c.1973-77) but then split and had a less successful career as a soloist. But certainly a virtuoso in the vein of Hendrix.

He features on four out of the first five Scorpions albums.

You really can't go wrong with anything from Roy Buchanan.
