I'd say it's pretty damn near impossible to pick the "best" but one solo that I really enjoy and that I think should get more credit is Dimebag Darrel's work on the song "Floods" off of The Great Southern Trendkill album. The rain sound effects accompanied by the outro following the solo really highlight the solo itself and showcase an emotional depth that's somewhat hard to come by in Pantera's songs.

Guitar World magazine voted Dimebag Darrell's guitar solo in "Floods" as the 15th greatest of all-time.

Ah well I stand corrected in terms of it being underrated. Well at least credit is being given where it is due!

my favorite:

why they use pictures of the Ramones I do not know... but whatever, first version i saw that did not shorten the solo.

2:46 - 4:16

I love the way it goes off and blends back into the riff perfectly. It is good without wanking. simple to the point and fun, with just enough of a techincal bit.

Always been my favorite solo.

Another one of my favorites, great song too.

Solo at 1:33
I despise the music video with a passion, so I posted a boring lyrics video instead.

One by Metallica. I could listen to the solo in that song over and over again.

A great song from a terrible band.
