Actually MOP, The Prisoner and Raining Blood were all pretty good solos as generic as the choices may be.

I'll agree with MOP and Raining Blood. But as for the rest, meh.

I'm not usually much of a fan of crazy guitar solos. I much prefer good songwriting over a show of technical skill. With that said, here are a few of my favorites:

can't really think of more right now

Incidentally, most of the lead guitar on Master of Puppets is actually Hetfield. It's one of the rare Metallica tunes where he plays a proper solo as opposed to a harmony lead. Hammett does still play the faster more noodly solo though.
