And Free Bird is wankery. I like wankery, but it doesn't make up the best solos, and how does it fit the song's theme AT ALL? They could have made the solo 2 minutes long and it would have been far better off.

So no, I'm not retarded. I just love to rip on a list of the most obvious picks for great guitar solos ever.

Now HERE'S a solo.

Came here just to post the Selkies solo. I cry every time I hear it.

The guitar solo at the end of Purina Hall of Fame by Propagandhi stopped me in my tracks in 8th grade when I first heard it. Greatest album closing song/solo of all time for me.

Mmm. The solo in "Layla".
I don't even know why. It just loops through my brain at any given time, and I have no complaints.

The guitar solo in 21st Century Schitzoid Man by King Crimson. It fits in perfectly with the songs style, especially when Fripp plays over the saxophones about two thirds of the way in giving it a great chaotic feel.
