It wasn't that unique a sound at the time really. I do agree that "Shoots and Ladders" is probably the best song on the album. Though I also think it's a testament to how skippable most of the tracks on that album are that I can't remember what "Ball Tongue" sounds like despite the fact that I've owned the album for 15 years.

If I had to choose and be honest I'd say Korn, when I was 10 that **** changed my life. I wish I had better taste in music when I was a kid, it's very embarrassing sometimes as they're pretty much a joke when you look at them nowadays. I wouldn't even dare put them in my library as I know better these days, but honestly... did you not love Korn in the 90's when you were a kid?

I won a KoRn poster at an carnival when I was like 13, trying to get a sexy girl one. I was disappointed in my dollar spent, but later went on to buy Life is Peachy.

Not the genre of music I listen to much... Listened to a little Disturbed back in the day, but I remember in middle school and stuff always listening to Korn. Hah, I remember like the 3 big artists that I listened to at one time were Korn, Limp Bizkit, and Kid Rock. Ah, to be 13 again.

But I've never been a huge Disturbed fan... Don't really like the guys voice much. So I'll go with Korn

Also, I don't know if it's possible but maybe Follow the Leader is underrated, at least on this forum; it's a great "pop metal" album. 'Freak on a Leash' and 'Got the Life' are both excellent singles and there are several other solid songs...

Sepultura, Shootyz Groove, Biohazard? I can't think of a ton of examples, but I just remember when I first heard Korn in 1995 my reaction was "oh it's kind of cool to hear this type of band using bagpipes in a song". So apparently the style of music didn't seem like particularly new territory to me at the time.
