which singer has the most distinct voice?

blackTshirt 12-14-2004 01:20 AM

from that list, i think kurt cobain and freddie mercury;
others would be jonathan davies, michael stipe
not that i like him, but chester from linkin park has a distinguishable voice, too.

dog 12-14-2004 03:32 AM

jim morrison and anthony kiedes are pretty reconisable

Sneer 12-14-2004 03:32 PM

i was thinking the same thing when i saw the title of this thread

ForgottenHero 12-14-2004 11:48 PM

Those are pretty recognizable choices on there, and Jello Biafra is a damn good choice as well. Billy Corgan is another voice I recognize instantly. As well as Glenn Danzig.

ish 12-15-2004 12:06 AM

I think the most recognisable voise I would be able to tell is Kurt Cobain, or Ozzy Osbourne, their voices r just so out there and known

Autistic 12-16-2004 10:49 PM

in my opinion there are only 2 singers who have a really "distinct" voice. too many bands sound like those guys mentioned, even the dude from queen cause back then all them bands sounded (singerwise) very similar..
i can only think of either Billy Corgan from The Smashing Pumpkins or Marylin Manson whose voices are so unique, even if you think they are retarded singers. ive never heard a single person who can duplicate their type of voice.

ish 12-16-2004 11:15 PM

Marilyn Manson

I completely agree on the manson one....everytime i hear a song and dont know who its by i wait for the lyrics to kick in and i can always tell if its a song by him...good thinking

iceplayer744 12-22-2004 10:50 PM

axel rose- nothin like it.

CrAzyBeAuTiFul 01-17-2005 05:06 PM

Kurt cobain he has a gorgeous yet eerie voice ...it gives me the shivers

Metal_Head 01-17-2005 05:36 PM

if distinct means best voice in the entire world.... add Davey Havok and Korey Taylor.... and Glenn Danzig... cant forget Danzig... and i guess Deryck from Sum 41.

i dont know a whole lot, but if thats not what distinct means, please correct me.

Waynegrow 01-17-2005 10:18 PM

That dude from Janes Addiction (not a fan so i don't know his name, but i can tell his voice everytime i here one of there songs).

sleepy jack 01-17-2005 10:31 PM

Im gunna disagree with that one. I can't think of another band that sounded like Freddy mercury in the 70's. I don't even think that Justin Hawkins comparisons are that well founded. People tend to look at one tiny aspect and say well right there they are similar and its not the case.

I'd also say it hard to have similar voices unless we chastise an artist for having people follow him. I.E. No one has had more copy cat followers than eddie vedder but that guy was original when he came out.

I don't know, im still going Jack White cause so many people complain about how "annoying" it is. I still think the stripes are the third coming of rock, but what the hell do I know.

Urban Hat€monger ? 01-18-2005 04:29 PM

Tom Waits really ought to be on this list

ihatepeaches 01-18-2005 05:53 PM

Maynard James Keenan, all the way.

It stings alot that I was beaten to that punch, considering he's given a nod in my name.

sleepy jack 01-18-2005 09:26 PM

Still Jello Biafra

hookers with machineguns 01-18-2005 11:29 PM

everybody mentioned thus far has a pretty distinct voice, definitely should have been more than 4 options in the poll, but i voted for lemmy, just for the fuks of it.

Sneer 01-19-2005 10:32 AM

MUSE girl 01-19-2005 11:10 AM

Thursday 01-19-2005 03:41 PM

What about the voice of Geddy Lee , how did it get so high.

I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy.
