I'm looking for melodic metal with heavy emphasis on the electric guitar, without the screaming. Examples of music come from Bullet for my valentine (Tears Don't fall, Hearts Burst into fire), and Killswitch Engage (End of Heartache). I do really like the vocals from Killswitch (except the screaming). I liked the vocals from 30 Seconds to mars, and Alien Ant Farm. I'm not into the grunge vocals like Nickleback, Nirvana, Seether, 3 days grace, etc. Any suggestions that are even remotely close to what I'm looking for would be appreciated greatly.

It didn't really resonate with me, but I appreciate you trying. It might be that Bullet and Killswitch set the bar a little high.

Honestly I just don't listen to that stuff anymore, so I don't really have much for you, but I used to dig this band a bit. They're about as original as sliced bread, but then again so are Bullet for My Valentine. They're actually still kinda fun TBH.

That's a little more like it. Thank you.

Cool Rock/Metal Musical Drama

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions of artists or albums that are similar to The War of The Worlds (Jeff Wayne) in that they follow a story with music and a little speech? Also something similar to Ayreons albums as they mostly follow storylines though usually don't have spoken words. I like these sorts of albums becuase they follow a story which adds an extra dimension to the music. Preferably Sci Fi and or fantasy themed but would try anything you think is good!

Thanks for any suggestions, I can't find any sort of audio/musical dramas like what I'm looking for just by searching google!

^Ziltoid the Omniscient by Devin Townsend, I actually pitted that against Ayreon's Human Equation album in Music Banter's prog rock album club recently. An excellent thread, you should check it out.

Guess I could have looked around more before opening my thread, exactly like this one...

Basically, I am looking for some new bands to wrap my head around. I mainly listen to Rock, Hard Rock, Metal. Some of the sub-genre of those I also listen to. I like bands that aren't so text book, so to speak. I like a band that has their own identity, that will forge their own sound and not try to sound like Nickelback to gain attention. I want bands that are more or less more underground. I want a band that says, **** what the industry says we should do with our band. We're OUR band and we will make the music that speaks to us as individuals and that people like us will relate to.

So. Hit me with whatever you lot have! I am eager for something new!
