Best Metalcore Guitarist

Not necessarily the most talented, but who do you think is the best.

Alfred 03-28-2009 10:46 PM

Hamilton Jordan from Genghis Tron, though Genghis Tron aren't really an ordinary metalcore band are they?

Darkest Hour 03-28-2009 10:48 PM

poll is up

I'm not sure if they are actually ^ lol

Alfred 03-28-2009 10:50 PM

They're just all over the place really.

Antonio 03-28-2009 10:59 PM

yeah, i have to agree i think. If you listen to the whole overcome album, it is a guitar masterpiece.

thisWARisours 03-28-2009 11:02 PM

Synyster Gates probably.

I know you all hate A7X but he is sooo talented.

Bullet's guitarist also...just because he plays it 100% accurate live.

Darkest Hour 03-28-2009 11:17 PM

honestly, i think ascendancy is the best metalcore album guitar wise

thisWARisours 03-28-2009 11:35 PM

Padge...since he does most of it.

Ascendancy is really good...

i think Safe as Milk was the best pop album ever created but no, those bastards still say the beatlefaces made some good album or other.

mods can we please merge all this metalcore stuff into one thread? i don't want to be a presumptuous bitch but there's like 68 372 689 403 849 threads all covering the same recycled riffs and generic vocals, just under the guise of a different band name.

Darkest Hour 03-28-2009 11:39 PM

tears, how is the bfmv forum now days? i can't get in for some reason.

recycled riffs have nothing to do with how good a song is. It's sad that metal fans think that.

oh, and metalcore vocalists are good, most of them anyways. why do people get all upset just because most of them can sing a little bit?

Maybe some people don't exactly want to hear all screaming that sounds the same dude

thisWARisours 03-28-2009 11:51 PM

The best is a mixture imo.

But I haven't really been listening to them...BUT I just heard Road To Nowhere for the first time haha, usually I turn it off, but I left it on. And it actually get heavier from acoustic like in the middle...really good.

And I like the acoustic's of Hearts Bursts and Tears Don't Fall.

I've been listening to Escape The Fate for the last like 5 hours haha....they actually replied to a message I sent to them on MySpace so I'm like wooowwww!

yeah, road to nowhere is a great song. I'm going to listen to escape the fate i guess, never really heard them.

thisWARisours 03-29-2009 12:00 AM

Damn haha.

Yeah, listen to This War Is Ours (Guillotine Part 2)...that's their heaviest off of new album.

They have a lot of light stuff, and a lot of heavy stuff, and one album with one singer and another with another singer haha.

And No Control JUST came on shuffle haha.

Darkest Hour 03-29-2009 01:24 AM

holy ****. This war is ours is an awesome song! 9/10

actually, i give it a 7/10 because the singer sounds ***. But the guitar is great

thisWARisours 03-29-2009 01:40 AM

Yeah haha, I love it.

I guess you just get used to high pitch emo singing lol...check out stuff from "Dying Is Your Latest Fashion"...it's with a different singer who has a deeper voice...songs like There's No Sympathy For The Dead or The Guillotine...which has like hella deep growling in it!

I've only heard Cloak of Love by Genghis Tron and I wasn't very into it. I've heard songs from other albums on Pandora. I just don't know which albums. I know they're a good band. I just need someone to point me in the right direction, or perhaps its time to take another listen at Cloak.

khfreek 03-29-2009 11:34 AM

Paul Waggoner :)

You can't go wrong with the other two albums, but my personal favorite is last year's Board Up The House.

crash_override 03-29-2009 05:19 PM

Brennan Chaulk - Haste The Day
Scott Collum - MATSOD
Travis Bailey - The Showdown

Alfred 03-29-2009 05:24 PM

Maylene definitely has a good guitarist, but I don't really look at them as a metalcore band. They have the occasional breakdown or hardcore punk rhythm, but they just sound like a straight-up southern metal band.

Hmm, I agree that they aren't the typical metalcore band, but they definately have roots in there. In my eyes they were at the helm of the southern metal/ metalcore shift that took place 3-4 years ago. But i suppose it's in the gray area.

P.S. Maylene was cooler when they had 3 guitarists.

Alfred 03-29-2009 05:45 PM

Yeah, the only original members now are Dallas Taylor and Roman Havaland, right?

crash_override 03-29-2009 05:52 PM

That is in fact correct. Which is unfortunate. I really like Lee Turner as a drummer. Of course Collum and Josh Cornutt are missed as well. This sort of thing happens to all great bands... It's a sad sad thing.

Rage Against the Machine 03-29-2009 05:56 PM

Dave Knudson from Botch, without a doubt.

crash_override 03-29-2009 09:28 PM

Brett Detar and Russ Cogdell from Zao. I mean they are like Lewis and Clark of metalcore.

DMBassDude 03-30-2009 08:09 PM

I'd have to say that I like Matt Heafy.

i don't blame you. He is young and gets so much hate, but he can play the guitar very well.

grazeanatomy 04-07-2009 01:27 AM

dude from at the throne of judgment, which is also my fav metal/deathcore band

coryallen2 05-07-2009 06:18 AM

Oli Herbert ftw.

Darkest Hour 05-07-2009 02:42 PM

oli herbert is the man!

Syffuf25 05-12-2009 11:24 AM

I've seen All That Remains, Trivium, and Bullet and I'd have to go with Oli then Tuck.

ZaborgZaloog 05-14-2009 09:06 AM

If he counts, Paul Waggoner. If not, errr....

xTevinx 05-17-2009 08:54 AM
