Well I've listened to Ten and Superunknown, and I own Nevermind, but I find that Nevermind is wayy overrated. I'm going with Superunknown because I favour Soundgarden more than Pearl Jam. But seriously, it's just a matter of opinion.

Yeah, a couple are questionable.
Bush's Sixteen Stone is about the best example of post-grunge you can find, it's not a grunge album at all. But you already knew that.

adidasss 06-30-2005 07:20 PM

i wanted to vote for nevermind and core but ended up pushing the wrong button and voting for dirt.....

SATCHMO 06-30-2005 07:50 PM

I wouldn't consider stp, silverchair, or bush to be grunge. Replace nirvana's Nevermind with Bleach and Soundgarden's Superunkown with Louder Than Love and you might just have a list, and then the best grunge album on that list would be Mudhoney's Superfuzz Bigmuff.

adidasss 06-30-2005 08:02 PM

stp aren't grunge?

SATCHMO 06-30-2005 08:04 PM

God no, their horrible commercialized modern rock.

adidasss 06-30-2005 08:08 PM

erm...have you heard core? it's one of the few perfect 10 albums in my colection, alongside with nevermind.....

sleepy jack 06-30-2005 09:43 PM

man grunge sucked

Spike*Spiegel 06-30-2005 11:22 PM

bush. Glycerine is one of my favorite songs in the whole entire galaxy.

vairocks 07-01-2005 09:01 AM

Nirvana rockED!! lol

<<<>>> 07-01-2005 09:15 AM

core was pretty good, not as good as tiny music or no.4 but it's their most grungiest if that's a word album. oH and I forgot to add Dinosaur Jr.s You're Living All Over Me and Temple of The Dog's album. I would've voted for DJ

Sneer 07-01-2005 10:49 AM

clairvoyance

EDGE 07-01-2005 11:02 AM

Pearl Jam for me.

Fenixpunk 07-01-2005 11:57 AM

My 2 cents-
Badmotorfinger is a better album than superunknown and I prefer Bleach over Nevermind...

and what about Mother Love Bone, Steel Pole Bathtub, and Helmet?

PhishFood 07-01-2005 02:30 PM

I really love Nevermind, I'm sorry my hipster friends..... I get annoyed when people hate nevermind because it was popular.

adidasss 07-02-2005 01:58 AM

amen to that!

I think Nevermind is a great album, but its not really grunge. In fact, Most of the mainstream stuff that came out after nevermind that got classified as grunge(I'm talking other bands too, not just nirvana) is really just alternative rock.

PhishFood 07-02-2005 05:02 PM

you make a good point...... Genres sometimes get taken over by mainstream radio, example: Every genre except pop....anyways who decides what is one genre or not......

pastor of muppets 07-06-2005 11:29 AM

toss up 'tween silverchair and nirvana for meeeee...........

Krosstika 07-06-2005 11:39 AM

Even before i clicked on the band i was gonna vote for,i knew it was gonna be Nirvana!!! hell i voted for 'Dirt' thats one album Alice In Chains is gonna be remembered for...and although while the constant references to heroin get a bit old ("Sickman," "Junkhead," "God Smack") the album works well as a whole with the possible exception of "Rooster" which doesn't quite jibe with the rest of the songs...but is probably one of there most influential songs!

as for silverchair!!!! thats not grunge, thats rubbish kiddy rock!

motley_crue131 06-19-2006 07:21 PM

since theres no grunge forum, ill just ask here. who is your favorite grunge band?

i don't really listen to much grunge, seeing as i'm a huge hair-metal fan, but i like pearl jam, and stone temple pilots for those of you who consider them grunge. but i actually only like one song from nirvana.

swim 06-19-2006 07:34 PM

Green River or Mudhoney

motley_crue131 06-19-2006 07:36 PM

hmmm. never heard of either of them. best songs?

swim 06-19-2006 07:39 PM

I listen to albums rather than just songs but here are a couple of good grunge albums

Nirvana- Bleach
Soundgarden- Louder than Love
Soundgarden- Ultramega OK
Soundgarden- Badmotorfinger
Mudhoney- [s/t]
Mudhoney- Superfuzz
Green River- Come on Down
Green River- Dry as a bone/rehab Doll

cardboard adolescent 06-19-2006 07:50 PM

Mudhoney and Nirvana, I suppose. But then again, what the hell is grunge, anyway?

Soundgarden's pretty good too, but I think they have a lot of filler.

tdoc210 06-19-2006 08:07 PM

Nirvana
Soundgarden
Alice in chains
days of the new

ermmt heres tape calle dhype you could rent

swim 06-19-2006 08:11 PM

dotn isn't grunge it's alternative/rock/post-grunge

Are other post genre's bigger than the genre? Because post-grunge is pretty huge while grunge is rather small.

Urban Hat€monger ? 06-19-2006 08:12 PM

At least motley_crue131 has finally moved into the 90s

motley_crue131 06-19-2006 09:06 PM

not really. i only like pearl jam and stp, yall just haven't given me any reason to argue at the moment

DearJenny 06-19-2006 09:21 PM

Nirvana.

And is it wrong to feel embarrassed for you? You give Motley Crue fans a bad name. I mean, its already hard enough to be a Crue fan and keep respect.

swim 06-19-2006 09:22 PM

meh, you don't listen to good music either.

I'm a bigger fan of the indie/grunge scene than the grunge scene.
Dinosaur Jr.
Pixies
Pavement

motley_crue131 06-19-2006 09:25 PM

why the hell are YOU dissing me? i can like whatever music i want. i don't make fun of your music tastes even though i probably hate them

MURDER JUNKIE 06-19-2006 10:29 PM

Gruntruck

IndiElectronica 06-20-2006 03:36 AM

Hammerbox (later Goodness).

I lived in Seattle at the time and got sick of the all the well know ones. Hammerbox were just below the surface of (inter)national fame. Best song is 'When 3 is 2'. Female led and definately worth checking out...

Alo 06-20-2006 05:20 AM

I saw Mudhoney on the page before this,

Mudhoney! -drool-

Though I didn't know they were grunge. :')
