Well I listen to all different types of music, even some metal. But I'm not a big fan of screaming / harsh vocals. But yeah, I totally respect people's opinions. Just not for me.

Then you should check out Mastodon's release. There's next to none harsh vocals.

But avoid Between The Buried and Me, and Lamb of God.

Or you could ignore Lamb Of God based on the fact that they're a fairly boring band.

Transcending Bizarre?'s album The Serpent's Manifolds is up there for album of the decade. The Four Scissors is also really good but not half as dark sounding. I also highly rate Clint Mansell's score for Requiem For A Dream.

My top four at the moment would be:

Enslaved: Madraum: Beyond the Within (2000)
maudlin of the Well: Part the Second (2009)
The Mars Volta: Bedlam in Goliath (2008)
Godspeed You! Black Emperor: Lift Your Skinny Fists like Antennas to Heaven (2000)

Ya'll must be listening to something else I don't know what you are talking about. If you have not heard them you should definitely give them a listen. I like them mainly because they are heavy but you can still understand the vocals just fine. They are true to their music and they're not media absorbed like most of these bands listed above, save a few videos here and there. When they began the screaming was extremely percussive and repetitive but since then they have grown and Randy has learned to pitch his screams alot better. Mark and Willie are constantly pushing themselves with their guitar and out of all the decades of guitarrists they are the ONLY ones with that style. In fact for a short amount of time Lamb of God was in its very own genre. Chirs Adler is one of the fastest most precise drummers up to date. Plus if you go to a show they are great live and if ya' disagree I mean you just... i don't know must be ****ed up or somethin' lol. And they'll just come right down and shake your hand and hang out just cause they're such good people. Maybe some would consider them boring. But no matter how good you are you're always gonna' have someone who dislikes you.

Of the 2000s?

My top two would be Radiohead - Kid A and Sigur Ros - ()

Though I have been give Controlling Crowds and Merriweather Post Pavilion a LOT of listening time lately, they need to sink in before I can properly place them.

Takk would be the most accessable, and () is obviously my favorite. Agaetis Byrjun is good too. Avoid their latest album. I'd say go with Takk.
